Platinum Fountain Pen, Plaisir Fine Nib, Black (PGB-1000-#1-F)

The Platinum Plaisir FP is a dream to write with. The pen came with a black ink cartridge loose in the body. It is a standard Platinum ink cartridge and was easy to install. This is an aluminum body pen with a snap cap - that keeps the nib from drying out. Its actually quite light. I wrote with the cap posted on the end and it was not too heavy. This is a great everyday pen great for functional use at work and home. The pen does come in a variety of colors with a <F> or <M> nib. This would make a great starter pen or an EDC for an experience FP user. The price was good as well.

Right off, recognize that this pen is simply a Platinum Preppy with an aluminum shell. If you like the writing and storage characteristics of the Preppy, you'll obviously like the Plaisar, unless the metal surface or shape bothers you. The Preppy/Plaisir has several great strengths: -surprisingly nice nibs: very smooth in medium, still nice in fine -unmatched resistance to drying out between uses, when capped -very fair price -want to change inks? Keep a Preppy or five "saddled" and ready to go with a range of inks, and swap the parts easily in less than 30 seconds. No repeated rinsing or mess. My main objection is that I don't really care for the look of the too-elaborate, flashy chrome band on the cap. Not exactly a show-stopper, however. Overall, the Plaisir has a nicer appearance than the Preppy, and is more durable in use. I like to color-code the barrel according to the ink contained in the pen. At the price, one can justify having a couple of these at hand. As with any fountain pen, performance is not entirely the responsibility of the pen; ink, paper (and user) all play a role, too. If you want to lay down a wetter or drier line, look for an ink that will help the pen lean towards just such output. (For example, Pelikan 4001 inks usually lend some dryness to a fp.) Likewise, the nib may be smoother or scratchier also depending on the ink, and more so on the choice of paper. If the nib in use dries out too quickly for your writing style, definitely try a different ink. Some people find adding a few drops of distilled water to an ink retards such drying-out; searching the 'net will surely produce some very specific suggestions. In summary, this pen is a nice performer for daily carry and use, and will be especially favored by anyone who wants to pick up a pen and immediately write without any fuss. A real standout in the under-$35 field. Above that price,definitely look at the delightful Platinum 3776 Century (from a Amazon Japanese seller, under $80) in blue or red, for a handsome, superior performer also equipped with Platinum's patented cap-inside-the-cap and a very nice nib.

I really like this pen, but it does feel a little cheap for the price. I have Hongdian and Jinhao pens that have a nice weight to them and are made of thicker brass and steel that cost around the same price if not less. Another thing I didn't like about the pen was it didn't include the converter like many other pens. With these major pen companies, I see this more and more. Buy the pen, and then have to pay 5-10 dollars to buy the converter. At these prices, the converter should be included. However, it does write very well. I am happy with my purchase.

The only issue with the order is the seller said it originally was shipped & returned to them so they had to ship it out again - not sure if that's what happened but it came soon after the said they reshipped it. About 2 weeks but that's after waiting a month or so. Anyways, it was worth the wait because the price is the best your going to find anywhere, and it's an exquisite fountain pen. It's extremely, incredibly smooth to the touch - softest feeling barrel & cap I've ever felt, truly like silk and feels marvelously luxurious. The silver ring middle section is beautiful, pairing nicely with the light pink color and has a nice etched design including the brand's name & the models name. The nib is superb as Platinum nibs are known to be; an exceptional writer with even ink flow, and a smooth glide along the paper's surface. The only thing I would mention, although the clip looks nice & fits the pen's design well, still I'm willing betting it's not a practical one; but I only consider them an important embellishment, however I thought I'd mention that in case anyone needs a sturdy clip. The pen came with one Platinum ink cartridge, so you'll need to buy more or a converter. This seller has a few for a good price so I'm going to buy it from them! I'm very satisfied with this order and HIGHLY recommend! It's the fairest price for a truly beautiful, remarkably stylish fountain pen and exemplary writer! You definitely want this fountain pen!

Writes nicely, smooth nib, hard to believe it is in such a cheap pen. The reason I did not give this pen 5 stars is because the metal, while beautiful, it is sooooo hard to grip that my hand would hurt in just a few minutes.The pen always felt like it was going to slip out of my hand because it is too smoth. If you want a inexpensive fountain pen try the Platinum Preppy instead, it uses the same nibs but is easy to hold onto and a pleasure to write with. I have bought many much more expensive fountain pens but still really enjoy writing with my Preppys. They are such a great price I bought a bunch of them so I could have an array of different pens inked up with different colors. The caps fit so well on all Platinum pens that they don't dry out quickly (if at all) so you can keep lots of pens going a once.

良い製品です。書き味もデザインも良いです。コスパが良いと思います。軸内にインクカートリッジが1本入ってますのですぐつかえます。実はそれに気づかずカートリッジを注文し入手するまで使ってなかったんです（笑い）。

Escrita leve e precisa

Es una pluma fuente excelente, muy ligera pero se siente sólida. Efectivamente la tinta se mantiene fresca por el diseño del cierre de la tapa con el sistema "slip and seal" de esta marca. Comparada con una Pilot Metropolitan o una Lamy Safari están al mismo nivel de calidad, visualmente me agradó más. Viene con un cartucho. En cuanto al empaque de Amazon ahora si dejó mucho que desear, llegó en una caja con relleno pero no envuelta en nada y con una etiqueta pegada que me costó bastante quitar los residuos de pegamento. Tambien llegó con un pequeño rayón en la tapa poco perceptible pero derivado del mal manejo y empaque. Dejó 5 estrellas porque califico el producto como tal y no la devuelvo porque por el precio valió la pena, pero deben saber que puede pasar que el empaque sea malo.
