AquaTeakPatented 36" Sumba Teak Shower Bench with Shelf

We bought a 36 inch bench to place outside our shower to facilitate dressing in comfort and stability and not look too short against the long shower outer wall (versus a 26", 28" or 30" bench).We bought THIS particular bench to compliment two different AquaTeak stools already in our walk-in shower (one inside for bathing use and the other in the pre-entry to help with drying off or set items closer to hand without having to leave the shower) and look good while doing so.It's made of solid teak wood. Packed very well and efficiently and not at all hard to unpack.It was easy enough to put together, though I'd caution to assemble it upside down with a very thick blanket or rug on the floor. I used a movers blanket on my work table. I'd also recommend having/borrowing a good metric T-handle Allen wrench set or at least longer regular Allen wrenches. The torque needed to tighten these bolts in securely can get tedious, even painful, at times using the short tool provided.The bench stands very solid and steady due to construction, wood type and its weight.It's comfortable to sit on. The curved seat that bothers a few commenting here was actually very pleasant feeling to my wife and I. The wood is not at all cold to feel on your bottom either, which is important when you're naked and feeling vulnerable.The seat height, as with the stools, is just right to raise your leg to finish drying your lower extremities, shave, put on lotion, adjust socks, clip toe nails, etc., but it's also a comfortable reach down to the floor while sitting to buff your heels, put on shoes/slippers, socks and the like.The legs do have rubber tip screw adjustment in case your floor is uneven and provides a bit more grip in tile or linoleum for safety.The shelf below the bench is especially useful (being outside the shower) to hold large towels and hide slippers and shower shoes beneath. I would imagine the same to be true inside a large shower, perhaps even more so.Lastly, the aesthetics are perfect. For us, it softens, even contrasts, the rough lines, color and decor we chose (to get a southeast coastal bathhouse look) with the subtle Asian curved lines and teak color.I have no regrets and would happily do this all again.[A Note of Advice: If you are going to use this IN your shower then I'd strongly encourage you to take the time to apply a quality teak oil to this bench BEFORE assembly (as I did with our stools), let it soak in and dry for at least 24 hrs and THEN assemble it. Reapply oil as needed 1-2x per yr depending on how often bench is dampened. It also doesn't hurt to take your used towel to wipe off excess water lying in the curve of the bench.]

Exceptional, the packaging was great, it look like someone took a lot of time and care into each piece. The material feels very solid, and nicely made. Assembly was easy, and took about 10 minutes not rushing and without power tools. It’s exactly how it’s described in the web site. I’ve used it in my shower for only 2 weeks. It can easily handle over 230 lbs (we won’t go into a specific number). Well worth the money. The only thing I would like to advise the company is, they should include a how to care guide or at least reference a website so that I can make this bench last as long as possible.

The bench looks great and their customer service is top notch (more on this later). I chose the larger one as I wanted some storage space below and it looks great next to the tub. The bench is well engineered and easy to assemble with 8 long screws that are completely hidden from view (as it should be). The bench also comes with adjustable leg "feet" that will allow the bench to have zero wobble even in uneven surfaces.In terms of customer service, I contacted them the morning after the item arrived because of a minor cosmetic issue, and they responded incredibly quickly (within 15 minutes in my case) giving me the option to get a replacement or an offer of partial credit for the issue. The bench looked great even with the minor issue (a small scratch) so I ended up keeping it. Will definitely do business with this company again. Great products and incredible service.

To begin with, the quality of the materials and construction of this bench is very high. When I opened the box to assemble it, I was very impressed by how good it looks - the wood quality and finish, and how securely it is assembled.It arrives in four pieces - the top bench, two side leg assemblies, and the bottom shelf. A total of 8 screws are used to assemble the pieces together, with fittings placed in each piece to provide a secure attachment. Color coded dots also ensure the pieces are assembled properly.The rubber feet on each leg are all adjustable for height, to level the bench. Once leveled in our shower, it sits securely.Long term durability will take time to evaluate. I plan to use the companies products - AquaTeak Teak Cleaner & Brightener and AquaTeak Premium Teak Oil - as often as necessary to preserve the wood.Overall I'm extremely pleased with the quality and appearance of this bench.

Everything arrived all wrapped up so nothing was damaged. Everything was in the box, including the allen wrench needed to assemble the bench. Assembly took no time at all and we had the most beautiful, perfect bench. Exactly what was promised, in the time it was promised. In fact, better than promised, because when I sat on the bench it was more comfortable than I expected. The height from the floor was perfect for sitting and getting back up. The beauty of the wood is gorgeous. The styling is so classic. This company deserves highest praise. I would recommend you use them every chance you get.

This bench came packaged so carefully, all parts labeled, so easy to assemble (8 screws)Quality material, sturdy bench. Adds a great touch to our shower.

Assembly was very easy, just a few stainless bolts hold everything together nicely. This bench is long enough for 2 adults to sit side by side without touching. The leveling bits on the bottom make it feel incredibly sturdy. I've only had this for a week, but so far so good. I will update this review if any long-term issues come up.
