Supergirl Costume

I bought this costume for my niece. She is a busty 12/14, so I originally ordered the Plus Size. It was beautiful, but the arms hung off the edge of her wrists and the shoulders where the cape was sewn on turned the neckline outwards. Also, the neckline was off, no matter what bra went under it and the belt was a hula hoop. I got the large size. (Note, there is a "one size" plus size and although it was big on her, I don't think it would work well for every size and shape of plus size people.) Again, the costume was very nice- vibrant color, decent materials (velvet-ish top, metallic skirt and cape, sturdy sewn on "S" patch, foam metallic velcro belt, metallic boot covers). This time the cape was attached with velcro. The proportions were smaller, which was good and bad. The waist was not as dropped (the "v" was very close to her belly button) and the skirt was shorter. The fit was much better on top, but there was concern about the skirt. The front fell a little above the knee, but the back rode up some (She is about 5'5). We remedied that with stockings (hosiery, not leggings) and the boot covers helped. There was not a problem getting the boot covers up the leg, but the bottoms are a joke. The front is this small point shaped flap of material and you step through a piece of elastic to keep it on. They do not cover like the woman in the picture. With booties and some tucking, they were able to work. The belt was large even in the smaller size, but safety pins worked all day. The cape stayed on firmly. Overall, we were both happy and I hope to donate this costume, as it is nice and was only worn once.

The media could not be loaded. I was truly surprised about everything. Quality is great and half the price of the costume shops. My costume arrived in 2 days. The packaging was very well done. Material is nice, stretchable, lightweight, and breathable. Comes w dress, cape, belt, and boot/leg cover thingies. Everything you need for the full costume.I'm 5'10, 150 lbs, size 4/sm. Read reviews so I ordered down a size and ordered a xs, I definitely could have pulled off my normal small. It's a costume so don't mind it a little short n fitted but I believe they are true to size. I do have larger legs and the boot covers fit just fine. however the foot part is to short, definitely not their fault I have a size 10 foot. It's an easy fix considering the rest of it is on point. I know it looks short on me but I'm tall and ordered down a size.Confession ... I received it less than 24 hours ago and I've fully put it on 3 times, It's perfect!PS: I also never do reviews but it was worth one.

This is a beautifully made costume. The long sleeves kept me warm enough for a coolish Halloween night in Virginia. I spent a lot of time reading reviews trying to figure out the size, so here's my info if it helps anyone.I am 5'3" and at the time I ordered the costume I weighed 150 lbs. I can't seem to find my measurements at that time, but I was trying to decide between large and extra large. Reviews seemed to lean that this ran big, so I ordered a large. By Halloween I actually lost 6 lbs, so was 144. My measurements at that point were:36.5 bust32 smallest part of waist36.5 natural waist40 hipsIf your measurements are like these, order the medium. The large fit ok and comfy, but I had plenty of extra material, so I pinned the back to make it a slimmer fit. The gold belt was enormous and so I also pinned that with a ton of overlap.The boot covers were perfect over a pair of high boots (I wear a 6.5 shoe with wide calves). The little points on the bottom are sort of silly because they don't have elastic to cover the toes, but ankle up looked good. Very happy with this costume.

I quite liked this costume. The blue material is very velvety. However, the red cape, skirt, and boots are made of a material that easily sticks together. This didn't matter so much for the cape and skirt, which were packaged in such a way that they were undamaged, but the belt and boot covers are folded together in this tiny bag. When I tried to take them apart, I found the material was fused together and even though I managed to pry them apart (and open the boot covers, which had fused to themselves), there were a lot of striations where the paint had torn away. I returned the costume and the next one was much improved, with paint damage to the boot covers confined to only a few specks.The belt is very large. I cut mine up and sewed it to fit my hip-size. Even though it sat on my hips perfectly, as I wore it, it began to rise up from my hips to my waist (since there is nothing on the costume to keep the belt in in place). Either you'll have to leave the belt super-big so it doesn't ride up, or else you'll have to take it in like I did, but add some belt loops to the sides of your costume to keep it from riding up.On both of the costumes I ordered (the original and the replacement), the Superwoman shield is slightly askew --- the original more so than the replacement.The cape is cool and I like how broad it is, but it only comes down to right above the skirt. That is problem, because the skirt is very short (and is in fact shorter in the back than it is in the front, which is almost the opposite of what one wants!) Btw, I ordered a small and am 5'5". A longer cape would have helped hide the skirt's "shortcoming." I had to wear black nylons underneath my costume, since any position other than standing straight up would have exposed my butt.The shirt is very wide-cut. The sleeves barely hang onto my shoulder, which is problematic, since none of my bras have straps that wide. It is also rather low-cut, but not cleavage-baring unless you bend over. The collar sits at about the same height as my bra. I did like how the sleeves taper down over the back of my hands.The boot covers are quite snug. At first, I was afraid I would not be able to get them on. I finally had to pull them over my boots, and THEN put on my boots --- it's impossible to do it the other way around. They weren't constricting once they were on, though, which was a plus. However, there is no way to get them to cover the whole shoe --- they are simply too thin and short --- they pop off the toe instantly. They strap underneath the shoe with a thin piece of velcro, so you have to wear boots or walking will be uncomfortable. I wore black boots and let the cover just rest on top of my shoes. About 1.5" of black boot toe was exposed, but it still looked very good. I had people tell me they didn't realize the boot cover and the boots were two separate things.The only other thing to mention is the wrinkles. Because the belt arrives folded up so tightly, it is severely wrinkled in weird places. The skirt and cape is also wrinkled because of the material they're made of. Hanging up the costume helped only slightly. Since it cannot be ironed, there is really no way to get them out. However, they don't really detract from the costume as long as you know they WILL be there.All in all, I was glad of my purchase, but only because I wasn't afraid to return the damaged one and get a replacement. There were lots of ways it could be improved, but for the price, it wasn't too bad.
