Pandemonium breaks out no matter how meticulously Hyacinth plans her social events. With more laughs than ever before, this new collectors edition is the ultimate anthology for fans of Hyacinth. As Hyacinth would say, “get it before the neighbors do!” Review: British humor at its finest! - "Keeping Up Appearances " was a British comedy TV show from around 1990. If you are a fan of British humor, enjoy this series. You will always remember Mrs. Bucket answering the phone saying, "Bou-quet residence, lady of the house speaking!" She came from a lower class family but puts on airs to appear to her middle class neighbors as wealthy, to their total aggravation. We were in stitches watching this gem. Well done!! Review: Funny British TV Comedy - This show is one of several British comedy shows that is hilarious to watch. The episodes do have some "insinuations", but it is all in good laughs. The story of a woman, the oldest of four sisters, trying to rise above from the lower station she was born into, as she wants to be socially accepted by those in higher stations including the aristocracy and high government positions. Her sisters and their 'daddy' always do something that ruins Hyacinth's morning coffee with Elizbeth, the tea parties, the candlelight dinners, musical soiree, church events, etc. Despite her neighbors thinking she is a bossy interfering person, (she is oblivious to what people actually think of her) she feels that it is her responsibility to be the leader in the decorum of social events in her community and even interfering with the career(s) of her husband, Richard, who meekly just resigns himself to being bossed around. Watching the show, it makes you wonder what Richard saw in her to marry her, but possibly as said in the bonus material, Richard probably wanted his life directed by Hyacinth instead of being his own man. Hyacinth makes her neighbor Elizabeth so nervous that she spills the tea/coffee and breaks her "Royal Doulton with the Periwinkles" or other cups. Great show to watch. Ranks up there with "Are You Being Served?", "Only When I Laugh", etc. Interestingly, Patricia Routledge did train as a singer and some videos of her can be seen on YouTube.

Great Comedy, Great Set, not HD Quality
It’s not in HD, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. The DVD’s are as expected based on the details provided in the description. I love this British comedy and the price is reasonable, so I recommend it. If older style viewing is not your thing and anything less than HD quality is a pet peeve then you probably wouldn’t want this product. For me, I’m happy with it. It’s what I expected it to be.

This show was a favourite for my Nanna when I was growing up. They are timeless and I’m so happy to be watching them again many years later.

Hyacinth will go to any lengths to portray herself as being one of the higher social classes. And she enlists or drags everyone else around her to achieve her goals, which makes for one of the funniest British series ever produced. We all know someone like Hyacinth and that makes this character very believable. Patricia Routledge is superb in this role which seems made-to-order for her. She is also surrounded by a very talented cast who are the perfect foils for her antics. Kudos to Clive Swift for his performance as Hyacinth's long-suffering husband Richard. Author Roy Clark has succeeded in bringing to life one of the most unforgettable characters in television history. As a Canadian I find Hyacinth and family and neighbours strike a chord with all nationalities. A true classic!

I love this series. Wish their (UK) 5 seasons were not so shorting comparison. Anyway video quality not that great. Would be wonderful if this show could be remastered.

The DVD’s are great! The only problem is the case, the teeth that hold the DVD’s were broken! Otherwise great quality!

Right up there with the Are You Being Served? series when is comes to an amazing side splitting comedy. Lots of laughs with this series, from Richard and Hyacinth to Onslow and Daisy and even Rose with her quirky "I want to be a nun!" ideas. Bring in a young vicar and his wife along with Elizabeth next door and her brother Emmet and you have one crazy cast.
