This kept the smell really well. It did need changed quite a bit but the bags themselves also kept the smell when tied off and babies also need changed often so you shouldn't expect a small pail to need infrequent bag changes. We never had issues with bags ripping. The small design worked well in a small space and the step made it easy to use.

I'd heard so many mixed reviews about the diaper genie that I decided not to get any type of diaper pale but a week after baby arrived we quickly realized we needed something. Not because of smell (breastfed baby so practically no odor) but because the amount of diaper changes were filling the regular bathroom trash can up super fast. I started looking at just regular step to open trash cans when I came across this pail. It was economical and seemed easier to use than the genie. So glad we ordered it but there are some cons...CONS- smaller than we thought it would be. We fill it up daily and after it's about 80% filled you either have to push the diapers down to make more room or go ahead and swap out the bags. We just go ahead and swap out the bags. NOTE: Our little one is breastfed so there's way more wet and poopy diapers to change.- The lid is kind of loud when it closes. More than once after a middle of the night changing when baby has virtually stayed asleep during the change only to be awaken by the slam of the shoot door. It's more annoying than anything else.- It's white. I wish it was available in darker colors. White shows every spec of dirt. We only have one bathroom so our guests see the pail when they use our restroom. I'm wiping it down more than usual just to make sure it always looks clean.PROS- Easy to use. Plastic liners are easy to change.- Simple, sleek design. Doesn't look too kiddy. We will keep using even after diaper phase is over.- Economical. Worth the money.

Very easy to use and does contain odor from dirty diapers. We'll continue using as long as we have kids using diapers.

My daughter is now 15 months old. I had this since before she was born and it’s still a great diaper pail. Every time I change the bag, I wipe it down with some antibacterial wipes inside and out, and it really helps it so the plastic doesn’t get smelly. Would definitely recommend this.
