Love the elegant front
Pros: Love the elegant front. Removable drive cages, easy assembly, power supply vent on bottom, great cable management. Felt well-built.Cons: Could use more screw-less designs, 4-pin CPU cable did not fit through cable management grommet. No cover plates for 3.5" external drives (card readers).Bought this case for my computer because I loved the smooth, elegant front panel design. I also liked that I could still use an optical drive without having to look at it all the time. The case felt really well-built and designed. I removed the large drive cage immediately, leaving plenty of room for over-sized graphics cards. The stand-off holes will nicely marked for each of the three motherboard types it supports, with the middle hole replaced with a peg for holding the motherboard while screwing it in. This was a nice touch. There is a vent on the bottom for the power supply fan, which I liked as well. The cable management was pretty nice, with holes in all the necessary places and velcro straps on the back.My only two complaints are fairly minor: a screw-less design would have been nice. There's a latch required to open the side panel, but it still uses thumb screws. A hinged door with a latch would have been a nice touch. Screwless drive bays would have been nice as well, but not really a big deal and the vibration dampening screws they provided are nice. The other problem I had was with the 4-pin CPU power cable, which did not fir through the hole at the top of the motherboard properly. I ended up accidentally pushing the grommet out, which was a pain to get back in. I managed to get the cable through, rather than running it across the motherboard, but it was a pain.I would definitely buy a case from Fractal Design again.

Excellent quality case, quiet and cool.
I came from a Cooler Master HAF 912 to this, so it was a large upgrade. I spent a few hours yesterday transferring over all my components to this new case, and was pleased at how comfortable this is to build in. Runs quiet, very nice airflow, and great quality. Lots of room to build inside the case, and has amazing cable management. The window on the side is actually pretty sizeable, bigger than I thought from the picture. Recommend it to anyone looking for a new case. I'm very happy.

the plastic looks like soap and water mixing
I recently got an R5 blackout edition w/ windowed case. the plastic looks like soap and water mixing. Like if you were playing with bubbles as a kid, there are different color swirls in the plastic and it looks strange.I brought this to the attention of Fractal through their email support. Was told this could not be RMA'ed because it wasnt physical damage. I replied saying that I thought this should be considered as physical damage. No response from support. I also left a voicemail with support. no response.

Great case, but not quite perfect yet.
Clean minimalist design. Flexible and organized interior. The new R5 is an upgrade even from the previous R4 model. Cons: top panels are a bit difficult to remove. The SSD mounts behind the motherboard receive no airfkow and are even insulated by the side panel's noise absorption material. Loss of the extra expansion card skot cover was a disappointment. I would have preferred the titanium colour was on the rest of the case panels instead of only the front door.

Looks like a really nice case
Looks like a really nice case, however if you have any plans on shipping it far don't bother. There is not any packing or styrofoam protecting the sides, bottom or top of case. It was not re-packaged and was shipped in the manufacturers box. Granted, we had it shipped to an APO address but it would have been fine with sufficient packaging from Fractal. I know this isn't a direct review of the product itself, but important to know the packaging is not good.

this thing is very obviously sturdy. Although that means it does have some weight
I normally don't give 5 star reviews to allow for durability over time. However, this thing is very obviously sturdy. Although that means it does have some weight. Compared to previous case (but it did have different stuff including more fans) this thing is very quiet. you can hear the fan on post but other than that the window isn't just for looks. When I come in the room I look at the fans to see if it is on or in sleep mode because without being close enough to it to feel the fans you won't know if it is on. Price could be better but I guess you get what yo pay for. The modular bays make it so easy to build it how you want and to swap in and out hard drives or even an optical drive. I really like how it has a spot on the back to put your SSD drive and to keep your cables behind the motherboard. My last build was a pain in the @#!@ compared to this and this awesome case is a big part of it. Highly recommend if you want a quiet easy build but don't care about weight and the price is in your budget.

What a great case! It looks very sleek
What a great case! It looks very sleek. The layout is awesome with regards to cable management. Cables route around between the motherboard and rear panel, so you can get rid of a lot of ugly, airflow-blocking cable clutter. The SSD mounts behind the motherboard are also very handy. This case is QUIET! I use this computer largely for gaming, so it is generating a lot of heat. The case stays acceptably cool and impressively quiet the entire time.

Has a classy and high quality look and feel. Better then any other case I've seen.
Great case! This is one of the nicest cases I've ever seen! If you want something that is high quality and looks classy instead of cheesy like most gaming cases, then look no further. This case has plenty of room and it's very easy to hook up more fans. Also my CPU stays nice and cool as well as it really does help in sound deadening all the components inside.
