Permatex valve lapping compound
Works as it should. Can usually count on Permatex to make a quality product that does what it's supposed to and this one is no exception.

Nice stuff.
Used to lap a flywheel to a crank. Worked great.

Use on striped bolts
Yes this inside a socket every time a bolt starts stopping out. Fills in a loose areas and grabs very well. Put it in the first time your ratchet or wrench slips and you’ll never have another stripped out fastener again

Single fine grit is better for last stage of lapping.
It works, but for REALLY GOOD valve lapping the other stuff where you have double grit separate compounds is better. This stuff here is neither really fine nor really coarse. It is somewhere in the middle. It may seal the valves somehow after some lapping, but it didn't give me the great results of the fine single 220 grit stuff when I did a vacuum check with the valves and 22+ InHg using a manual vac pump and 15 seconds minimum until losing the vacuum. I couldn't even get a vacuum over 15 InHg and it lost it just in a few seconds. Some valves were already in that condition before even lapping them. Sooo, bottom line, if you JUST somehow want to lapp a bit then you can use the stuff here. But if you want GREAT results and a verifiable result with vacuum pump check of the intake and exhaust channels and valve seats of your engine then I'd recommend buying also some finer single grit stuff 220 grit or even finer for that last lapping stage. Keep in mind every engine is different so your mileage may vary. Because valve sizes may vary, materials vary, etc. I am actually rebuilding a Jeep 242 with 0331 head engine. The valves and seats of the exhaust system were in fairly good shape, just the intake valves and seats needed some tlc and those are bigger. But I lapped all of them until I got my 22 InHg and 15 seconds vacuum hold results.

Mechanics trick.
Valve grinding compound is an old school product used to help remove stripped screw heads. A little dab of this in the Philips head and it will grip the screwdriver and extract the screw perfectly. I'm an airplane mechanic and come across stripped out screw heads constantly. What time saver, Oh yeah it works well on valves too.

Used to repair crossthreaded locking ring on vintage ratchet wrench
Used this valve grinding compound to repair a crossthreaded lockring on a vintage Williams double pawl B-52 Super Ratchet. I knew I was in trouble when it was a bear removing the lockring from my recently acquired vintage ratchet wrench. Took a superhuman effort to get the lockring moving initially, and it didn't get any easier loosening it. It was a battle all the way, I was bending the watchcase back remover tool I was using to engage two of the slots. After I got the lockring off, I could see that the threads were definitely messed up. I could only get the lockring screwed back in only half way before some serious binding occurred. I put some of this valve grinding compound on the threads and worked it slowly, back and forth, advancing it more and more, then backing it off, tightening back and forth. Applied a couple more dabs of compound a few more times. In about 5 minutes, the threads were cleaned up enough that the lockring was able to be tightened all the way in without forcing it at all. Cleaned up the internals, lubed it. And the wrench is now so smooth and will serve me for many years to come. This product definitely saved this sweet tool.

Perfect paste
Excellent paste. It makes hand lapping the valves easy. It starts medium, gets finer and stays where it needs to be. I've been using the wrong paste and struggling, now with this stuff it's like a dream.
