It worked like magic in northern WI!
We recently moved to the central northwoods of Wisconsin to a cabin converted into a home in the middle of the woods. Moving from the suburbs of Chicago, the only thing that worried me about the change in scenery would be the almost guaranteed mice problem. Mice as critters don't frighten me. They're cute in pet stores, but when I see or hear one in my HOUSE and I'm not expecting it, the surprise absolutely scares me to death and makes me feel like I can't be at ease in my own home (a terrible feeling). Anyhow, after doing many hours of research online, I found out about the peppermint oil trick, using copper mesh and caulk to stuff up obvious entryways, using a rodent-deterring pepper-based spray that I bought here on Amazon, keeping food in airtight containers and/or refrigerated (no more cookies on the countertop!), and keeping your house free of crumbs. I now have a mouse-fighting "action pack" containing all of the above items. One thing I didn't immediately buy was a high-frequency electronic sound repeller (such as the ET Pest Control System) since I had read many reviews that said these gadgets were hit-and-miss and more frequently than not didn't do squat. I mean, who wants to waste money on something that doesn't work? Even after all this prep, last month (mid-August), we saw our first mouse in the house. Totally disappointing especially since I had such high hopes in the peppermint oil. After we chased him out and sealed that entry hole, we started hearing SCRATCHING from within the walls! It would go on and off throughout the day, sometimes in the kitchen, sometimes in the family room. It seemed that for the moment they couldn't get into the house but from the persistent scratching noises, it sounded like they were trying really hard to bust through. We placed several peppermint oil balls (and sprayed peppermint oil/water mix PLUS sprayed the pepper spray) next to the walls with the scratching but this did not deter the inter-wall rodents at all. Didn't even phase them - they just kept gnawing and scratching away. After the first few days I caved in and started reading reviews about the ultrasonic deterrent gadgets. This particular device had better reviews than most and I really liked that the company's owner took time to respond to less-than-perfect feedback here on Amazon. I made the choice to order this device. When it arrived in the mail, I had been hearing those scratching sounds in the wall earlier that day. I plugged this unit in on a floor-level outlet in the kitchen facing the most active mouse-scratching wall. After that day, I haven't heard any scratching sounds from within the walls. Not a peep. Totally amazed. Granted, it's only mid-September now so we'll see if it keeps up its performance when it gets colder outside. I'd like to order a second unit just in case this first one ever fails, but it appears they're out of stock here on Amazon. Hoping the company is still in business. PERTINENT NOTES: Our home is 950 sq. ft. in a forested, rural area in northern WI (nearest neighbor is about 1/2 mile down the road). Our one unit is plugged into a floor-level outlet facing the previously most active wall. Since this item didn't ship Prime, it did take a while to receive it in the mail. My settings on the unit are per manufacturer's suggestions for rodents: Range: Low; Pitch: Variable; Output: Continuous. When I am in the kitchen I can faintly hear the high-pitched sounds it's emitting but it's a small price to pay for no mice! UPDATE Nov. 19 2014 - We actually bought a second unit to supplement the first one to ensure full directional coverage across the house because we started hearing scratching from within a different wall. Ever since the second unit powered on, no mice sounds, no mice in the house! Would whole-heartedly recommend these units to anyone suffering from mouse problems. We live in the middle of the woods and made it through autumn without having any mouse problems! That's unheard of! Interesting side note: To be proactive, we set out regular UN-BAITED snap traps along the perimeter outside our house in areas where we thought they may be getting in (we are on a slab). During the late fall months, we'd catch about 1 mouse a day in them, totaling about 20 mice since we started doing this. The ultrasonic pest control definitely keeps them OUT of the house, but doesn't seem to penetrate through exterior walls. UPDATE March 12 2015 - We did have two mice (one mouse, one vole) make it into our home during the winter months, both of which we saw upon entry (we heard them moving around in the attic first) and we were able to snap trap them immediately. Not sure why those two chose to enter our home with the two sonic devices on. Perhaps they were desperate or deaf? I still think that the devices have greatly deterred many mice from making the effort to enter our home and I plan on buying another one of these devices for our garage once we have power setup in that building. I mentioned previously that I was able to faintly hear the high-pitched sounds coming form the device. If you switch it to Pitch: Fixed instead of Pitch: Variable, it won't make the audible high-pitched sounds. My guess is the higher pitch noise would be the sound that deters bugs vs rodents. We made the choice to keep the Output set to Continuous instead of Intermittent. The manufacturer's documentation states that after running it on Continuous for a few weeks you can choose to switch it to Intermittent to save on energy. Not sure if this would help/hurt our mouse control results.

Woah. It actually works.
The box this product comes in, that font, the font color, and that cheesy-looking looking drop shadow are about the only things wrong with this product. Basically, this product looks silly. However, if you are wondering if this product works on bats, I can confirm that it does. I had a major night roosting bat problem on my front porch area. I've tried everything short of going out and buying a BB gun to shoot them (yes, I know that's illegal) or paying someone $500 to remove them. I mean, bats are great at eating the bugs that annoy us, which I'm all for, but bats don't belong in or around our homes in areas where they can create biological hazards. Their droppings were everywhere on my front porch and I've tried every home remedy and researched the problem extensively. The main issue I kept running into with my research is that most "solutions" to bat problems involve them getting into the home itself and then the home owner does an "exclusion" where they can get out but not back in and then the entry point is sealed up. Those solutions won't work in an open-air, front porch, night roosting scenario. So I ran into this device here on Amazon and had some money from some gift cards that someone gave me, so I figured, "Why not? I've tried everything else." The device arrived way ahead of when it was supposedly going to. I had seen about 15 to 20 bats night roosting on my porch the night before. I set up this device exactly as per the instructions and made sure it was in an optimal area for maximum coverage. I was dismayed to learn that it would take several weeks to get rid of my problem. Bats are semi-intelligent...I've discovered that they will poop on anything they don't like to send a message. I forgot to turn on a light one evening during one of my attempts to get rid of them and woke the next morning and the light was completely covered in bat guano but the ground was clean. The bats were exacting revenge for my attempt at ruining their night roosting place with a bright light. This device is plugged in to just run continuously. My main concern was that the dogs in my neighborhood would start barking up a storm and I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Fortunately, that hasn't happened. If anything, the dogs have been surprisingly quiet - maybe the bats were the cause of all the barking - so now that the bats are gone the dogs have nothing to bark at? What did happen is that the first night this device was up and running, I poked my head out and saw that annoying colony of bats just chilling out as usual (and pooping) but they seemed quite a bit agitated. So I tested that theory, threw on my shoes, and I stepped outside. As soon as I stepped outside, they ALL took off. Usually a few stubbornly hang around after that. The surprising thing is that I haven't seen a single bat or new droppings anywhere since then. Annoy them + one good scare = gone for good? Time will tell but I'm pretty sure this system is doing its job. My only remaining concerns are in regards to waterproofing and the summer heat. The device is outside and, while it is under a porch roof and therefore somewhat protected, it is still more exposed to the elements than if it were indoors. I seriously doubt rain will actually ever reach it, but moisture in the air might condense on the device. The summer heat can reach over 120 F. So there is the possibility of fried circuits and melted plastic in my near future. Supposedly humans can't hear this device. However, I am able to hear the circuitry itself change pitch as it emits its sounds. It isn't particularly loud to me as I have to be pretty close to hear it. However, I have very sensitive ears and can hear sounds many people my age (and younger) cannot. That all said, this device worked to remove my bat problem in under 24 hours. Your mileage may vary.

Pest Control
The ET Pest Cobtrol Bat Targeting System is a decent system that helps to reduce the presence of bat populations. It help to repel pest by two different methods one that uses your homes electrical wiring to electromagnetic to repel the pests and the other method uses the 2 speaker system on the product to play pest repelling noises. This product did all right with repelling pests tho there were still some rodents wondering around even when the machine was in use. It did not work to get rid of cockroachโs. It has different settings you can use to target your specific pest youโre trying to get rid of. There is also a convenient light at the bottom of the product for nighttime use. This product is safe to use around your pets except for your rodent pets. Compared to other products similar to this one the price is right in the middle so it is worth its value. They have fast shipping and a customer service team based out of the USA to help with any problems that may arise.

Fantastic Customer Service!!
I was a little (okay a lot) leery about purchasing an electronic pest control device like this, because I really didn't have very high hopes that it would actually work, but with a daughter and a dog I really wanted to take more of a natural approach. That, and I looked into having a pest control company come out and truthfully, the cost was a bit ridiculous. I think they wanted something like $200.00+ a quarter. So I gave it a shot. The first one I got was defective, but I contacted the company and without hesitation he sent me a new one with a hand written note (which you never get from a business anymore) in the box apologizing profusely and pretested the one in the box to make sure it worked. If that isn't customer service, I don't know what is. For me, that goes a long way especially in this day and age where companies just seem to care less and less about their customers. So I plugged it in and from what I could tell it was working fine. Lights were on, test button worked. At the time we thought we only needed one in the kitchen, because that's where we were seeing the mouse droppings so we only purchased the one (wishing I didn't now). To be fair, it didn't work right away, but after about 2 weeks I didn't see anymore mice in my kitchen. Hell, I wasn't seeing anything in my whole house. I thought eureka! Well, turns out I wasn't so lucky. We recently found a mouse in the living room and the few times that I've seen him he is always hanging out in the living room, but my kitchen remains mouse free. No mouse droppings, no sightings, no nothing. I'm convinced it works, but because I have a 3 bedroom house I really should have a few more. The bottom line is, I don't know if it's going to work for you, but it worked for me. And between being more of a natural approach, no mice in my kitchen, cost less in the long run and great customer service, I'm all over it.

This product really works
Since moving into the house I currently reside, we have had annual problems with bats roosting under our front porch which acts as sort of a bat cave (See the photo I uploaded on the product description page). They are usually gone by sunrise, but they leave little presents behind in the form of bat guano. I've tried other repellants which never work: moth balls, and other ultrasonic systems (supposedly designed to target mice). I've also read online that ultrasonic repellants supposedly do not work on bats which left me skeptical that this product would work. I was so sick of sweeping the un-slightly bat guano every morning (I have a dog who likes to sit on our front porch and survey his surroundings), and am also worried about what diseases (rabies?) these vermin carry, that I finally succumbed to the temptation of the 5 star reviews on this product page to buy one of these. The seller/developer of this product does offer his company's email and phone (and will respond to your email if you email him) and a one year money back guarantee. The seller/developer wants you to try it for 4 to 6 weeks before giving up. Visual inspection of the unit, it appears little more than a small plastic case housing a couple of tweeters and a few setting switches to optimize the ultrasonic profile to disorient bats. I am not sure of the ultrasonic range of the tweeters...how far above audio they go, but they do seem to have an effect on bats. I have not had to sweep bat guano off the front porch since installing the ET pest control (3 weeks now after a losing 4 year battle). Its power line operated, not battery operated, so it may require (as in my case) an extension cord. I've not measured how much power it consumes but I think its on the order of a couple of Watts which is insignificant. So my hat is off to D&R Technologies....a job well done. I'll probably buy another unit for my back porch. Update: Seems amazon deleted my photo of one of the little bats that used to hang out on my front porch. Sorry folks. 2nd update: Looks like the photo is back! Cool.

One of the more expensive electronic pest repellants and still didn't work for me.
Bought this in February after seeing two mice. Bought two units for my 1600 sq foot home and placed one upstairs and one downstairs even though the directions say I would only need 1 unit for a home of my size. Since then I've seen 5 more mice. Luckily my cat has found most of them first. I don't think these have done anything, UPDATE 9/1/15 After my initial 1-star review DnR Technologies went above and beyond to try to help me out. They emailed, they called, and when I didn't call back right away, they called again. Clearly they wanted to make me happy which was good because another mouse was spotted in my kitchen recently. Before I could even get in touch with them, they refunded my purchase price, which I didn't even request. After we connected they told me that 2 units may not be sufficient for my house and they sent four additional units for free and suggestions for taking care of the problem once and for all. I never had a serious infestation so it will take some time to tell whether the additional units and suggestions work (the last mouse I found was the first one in months). I'll give it a few months and if there are no mice, I can pretty much say that it will be as a result of these products. And I plan to update my review then. If a review was based all on customer service, these guys would get 5 out of 5 stars easily. I just can't say at this point that they have worked for me. But I am confident that they will based on other reviews and the fact that DnR is giving me so many additional units for free which I don't think they would do unless they were confident they worked and could get rid of my mice. I will say that even though the 2 units I purchased weren't enough to take care of the problem, if the company treats everyone the same way I was treated, you really have nothing to lose by giving the product a try. I'm hoping that in a few months I can give them 5 stars.

It Works...Just be Patient
I had problems with this working at first which lead me to believe it wasn't because I started seeing critters scampering across my kitchen floor and too many times I found droppings on my kitchen counter. After a month (yes, I should have contacted the manufacturer sooner, but I didn't) I finally contacted the manufacturer one evening. The company was closed, so I left a message telling that my mousey problem seemed to have gotten worse. I also let them know that I'd changed the settings as the instructions said if the problem didn't get better. They called me back the very next day. After speaking to a very nice rep she said my kitchen size may require another unit. She said she was sending me another one and for me to also put that in my kitchen. Then she said I might even need another one in the room beside my kitchen. So she sent me two additional units. Since I've had the additional units plugged in, I have not found mouse poop on my kitchen counters and I haven't seen any running across my kitchen floor. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope that my problem has been resolved. Without hesitation, I give their customer service 5-stars. I give 4-stars for the unit because eventhough it only has one electrical adapter, the unit itself covers the whole electrical faceplate thus dedicating the whole outlet to this unit, so when I want to use my toaster oven, I have to unplug the ET, plug in the toaster and when finished with the toaster, plug the ET back in. I also had an under-cabinet light over my other kitchen countertop, but because the ET is plugged in there now, I can't use my light. I just wish it didn't cover the additional outlet. Update as of 1/6/16 I don't quite get it, but this thing is still going strong. With the addition of the extra units...no mice. I am feeling much more comfortable walking into my kitchen at night. I'm still cautious after our bout with mice on my counter and sometimes scurrying across my kitchen floor. But no more of that. I have finally put My dish drainer back on my counter and I no longer find turds on the counter, none on my stove and none on the dish drainer. Thank goodness because I was a nervous wreck due to the mice. These units are amazing!
