I checked the reviews before buying, as you do and noted some said not thick enough for proper warmth and tight on the ankles - which, as I cannot stand tight socks and was buying them for winter warmth in the house (pensioner use) would have meant I'd wasted my money. However , at that price, I thought they were worth a punt and and I'm very glad I did: I've size 12 feet, broad with it and the fit is fine. They are very, very comfortable i.e. they exceed my expectations in all respects. I've noted the Rufus summary of how they should be washed and intend to go for hand-washing on a 5 day cycle (just received them - had them on for hours and forgot i was wearing them, they are that comfortable). And whenever I order something else from Amazon, I'm going to reorder these too.

These are a little short to be called boot socks , however they are warm and comfortable with a soft top . Cab ride down the foot on occasions but all in all good value for the money .
