DZLight Dual Head Clip on LED Desk Light, 3 Modes, 5-Level Dimmer, Flexible for Dorm Room, Computer, Piano, Kids - desertcart.com Review: Perfect for my application - I was having problems with the lighting built into an iCodis scanner which was directly overhead of the documents being scanned. When I was scanning any coated paper, I captured a reflected glare. This light is perfect, and solved the problem since I can now move the lights to the sides of the document or book so the reflection from shiny paper no longer bounces directly into the scanner lens. Being able to adjust the light position, temperature and brightness enables me to get a glare free image which I can maneuver to meet the needs of the particular document being scanned. I just received it and set it up, so cannot comment on it's longevity, however at the moment it perfectly solved my problem and meets my needs at a very reasonable cost. Review: Great, adjustable - I got this for my puzzle board and it works perfect. The clip opens wide enough to securely clamp on the the inch thick board. The arms are individually moveable and the light has 3 settings. USB and outlet plug.

UPDATED 12/18/18: Good keyboard light. Sturdy build but won't work with smart sockets.
General: Each of the two lamp heads has 13 “cool” and 7 “warm” LEDs. The “Switch” button (top on the control switch) turns the lamps on -- initially in the “cool light” mode (13 LEDs x 2 on), then switches to the “warm light” mode (7 LEDs x 2 on), then to what the manufacturer describes as the “natural light” mode (20 LEDs x 2 on.) The LEDs are powered by a cord that terminates with a USB plug that can be fed directly from a USB socket or plugged into a provided USB to 110v power adapter. In addition to the three different color mode choices provided by the Switch button, the “Dimming” button (center on the control switch) provides five different brightness settings (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%.) The manufacturer states that this light produces 330 lumens. I have no way of measuring the light output. However, in the “natural light” mode (i.e., all LEDs on -- both the cool and the warm) at the 100% brightness settings, it provides a decent (but not great) amount of light for reading over a small desktop area (about 24” x 18”) if the lamp heads are no more than about 12” above the surface. I’m not clear why a light of this type needs a “Timing” function (bottom button on the control switch) but that may appeal to some people. This button selects between 3 hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours. Pros: The spring clamp is sturdy and the goose neck tubes are sufficiently stiff to hold the lamp heads in position. (However, I’m not sure how well the tubes would hold up to being adjusted multiple times each day, like an architect’s desk light.) Cons: 1) It is not possible to turn this light on using a remote-switched 110v socket (either a manually controlled socket or a “smart” socket controlled by an Alexa/Echo or a similar device. 2) The lamp lacks a “one-press” on/off button. The manufacturer states that this light has a “memory” function which “will automatically resume the BRIGHTNESS SETTING [emphasis added] of the previous use when restarted.” This statement is correct, but only as far as it goes. After the light is turned off by using the Switch button (by cycling through the “cool,” “warm,” and “natural” modes to off), when it is then turned back on again -- while the brightness setting is the same as when it was turned off -- the light color mode always is “cool,” requiring one or two additional button presses to get to “warm” or to “natural.” More problematic, however, is that when line power is cut to the light and then restored (such as by a remote control socket) pressing the Switch button turns the light on but NOT at the last selected brightness level. The default starting setting from a line power off/on cycle (after pressing the Switch button once) is the “cool” light mode at 60% brightness. In other words, to go from off to the “natural light” mode (all LEDs on) at 100% brightness after a line power off/on cycle takes five button presses: Three of the Switch button (to go from off to “cool,” to “warm,” to “natural”) and then two more presses of the Dimming button (to go from 60% to 80% to 100% brightness.) That’s a lot of button presses. I believe that the manufacturer should modify the memory feature of this light so that it will remember both the brightness setting and the color mode that was last set and come on directly --without any button presses -- after a line power off/on cycle. If that modification is too difficult, then I recommend that the Timing button be replaced with a simple “one-press” on/off button that won’t require repeated cycling through color modes every time the light is used. Conclusion: This light appears to be suitable primarily for accent lighting and for small area (as opposed to focused task) illumination that only needs a modest number of lumens. The options for color and brightness provide flexibility. It probably would make a good light for a piano, a bookcase, or a display table. UPDATED REVIEW 12/18/2018 After my initial review was posted, I was contacted by DZLight via Amazon offering a refund or a replacement with another one of their lights that would work with a smart socket. I very much appreciate this excellent customer service. However, I wouldn’t feel right requesting a refund since the light I received isn’t defective in anyway, it just has some limitations that I described in my initial review. DZLight explained that, because the switch on this light is, itself, smart, it won’t work with smart sockets. I wasn’t previously aware of this limitation concerning smart switches. I suspect (but have no hard evidence) that similar lights by other manufacturers using smart switches would also not work well with smart sockets. Although I still wouldn’t recommend this light as a general purpose desk light (I just don’t believe that 330 lumens is bright enough), I’ve found that it makes an very fine computer keyboard light. I’ve fastened the two lamp tubes together end-to-end and now have about 18 inches of narrow beam focused light positioned about six inches above my keyboard. Before fastening the tubes together, I searched Amazon for an equivalent LED keyboard light. The closest I could find were “grand piano lights” that start about 10 times the cost of this light. For that price difference, I can more than live with the multiple switch button presses. I thank DZLight for their responsiveness to my concerns. I’ve adjusted my rating to four stars.

Great versatility and value for the price!
This light was perfect to add light to my racks of sewing thread. Matching colors is sometimes very important and the amount of light available is the difference in selecting the right color. Since it was so light weight I was able to hang the light from a nail between the racks and can bend and move each one to get the light to shine where I need it most. It’s very bright, versatile, and easy to use. A great value for the money and seems sturdy enough to last.

Perfect supplemental desk lighting.
I bought two of these for additional light at two desks in my home office. One can never have too much light and these are perfect. I just hope the buttons hold up on both units.

Don't purchase
Purchased this product because of the extended warranty. One year of ownership and it no longer works. Contacted the company and they said they no longer sell them. After some back and forth I was told they would make them again soon. Have heard nothing from them in months.

Handy and functional
Neat little light. Works great. Perfect for doing detailed close-up projects on my craft table. I appreciate the adjustability of both the light functions and the positioning of the two bulb heads.

Doesn't power down after year 1
I have had this light for just about a year. It was only used from January - March - then again from Nov until now (March 2021). I have it clipped onto the top of my monitor shining down on my desktop. As a teacher, it provides light on my desk if I need the lights turned off in the room. Its overall functionality is good. It serves its purpose. The arms could be stronger as you cannot adjust them often or they don't stay in place. Getting them adjusted in the position you want them is a bit of a challenge, but once you get it there, leave it and don't touch it. We were all remote from March - November. I had unplugged this unit when we went remote but left it attached to my monitor. When I returned 9 months later and plugged this in, I noticed that it doesn't power off anymore. there are LEDs that are "yellow" and do not shut down unless I unplug the USB. This is a bit of an inconvenience and would have been 4 stars if it wasn't for this issue.
