Rome Double Pie Iron

This works great, is sturdy, and we've had lots of fun trying different sandwiches, both camping and at home in a firepit.

Although the box it came in looked like it was run over by the truck, the pie iron received zero damage. I've used it several times to make pizza calzones. The first couple of times I had some trouble with burning due to inexperience. What happened was when I was removing the pie iron from the fire and finding it was almost finished, I put it back on the fire to finish up. Not smart. I found that when checking and almost done, just leave it off the fire as the pie iron has enough heat to finish the job without putting back on. I used 3 minutes then flip. I do this twice for a total of 6 minutes each side. Then I take off and check. If almost done, I leave it off to finish up for a couple of more minutes.

This thing is BEEFY. It is heavy, heavy duty and stands up to campfires. Grilled cheese to desserts it will make anything!

Easiest way to campfire cook anything ! Trying to explain how much fun it is using the Rome double pie irons is like me trying to explain how much I enjoy getting to go camping..... I love it. Turn your kids cooking ideas free, anything from grilled cheese to grilled peanut butter and jelly's... don't knock it til you've tried it! Nothing like cooking around the campfire with the kid's!

Very sturdy and works very well. Need to keep turning and put it over hot coals not blazing fire.

Talk about an endless menu and so easy a kid can do it. Just remember, the cast iron stays hot for a while after you take it out of the flames.

Must really season it and use oil.

This has worked excellent for my mountain pies. I bought the double to be able to feed the family quicker. It is heavy though and my 7 yr old cannot handle it. Nice quality handle too.

The real Pie Iron! Fantastic quality, robust and very handy. Just need to be seasoned before first use, but the nclosed instructions cleary explain how to do it.
