Doesnโt work for plums
Great item, but does not work for plums. It just slowly grinds the pits into the bowl and doesnโt separate the fruit meat.

Great product!
I really love this food mill as I can take it completely apart to clean and throw it in the dishwasher, unlike most other mills. It is designed well and was a good value. It works great and was easy to use.

Save your packing materials
The packing materials it comes in are better quality than the product they contain. After 59 years of faithful service I had to get rid of my worn out food mill. I purchased this one. The old food mills ensured proper tension to strain/rice food by having a threaded nut with a spring scraper hold the moving handle/blades in place. This device uses a rather weak spring to achieve the same effect. It doesn't. After a few revolutions food begins to build up on the strainer disc, and eve when you reverse the rotation of the blade, it doesn't clean the compressed food away from the strainer disc. The result is that it takes ever more food mass added to force the compressed layer through the holes. Eventually you run out of food to add and have to manually scrape the compressed wasted layer. Bottom line? By comparison to older food mills this one is poorly engineered and cheaply built. Look elsewhere.

Does the job but hard to use
My mom had one of these from way back, and it worked like a dream but has gotten old and worn. She still has it but wanted a newer option for more frequent use. While it works well when assembled, it is a real struggle to both add and remove the mill disks. It takes a lot of messing around with and is a real pain at times.

This thing is the worst thing I have ever brought into my kitchen. Assembly is a fickle mistress where the tiniest bit of pressure will unseat it from the side clips or the handle slips from the center hole. The grate plates rotate with the blade, rendering it useless & if by some miracle the plates stay put, the scape blade is ineffective at actually doing its job of milling vs pushing it around the bowl like a food broom. I can not overstate how much I hate this.

The food mill saved my husband hours and hours this year when separating his grapes from the pulp. It was so fast and so easy. Clean up was easy too.

Needs a bigger intake size. Had to keep pushing the food into the mill.easy to take apart and clean.

I got this last summer thinking I can make tomato sauce. It "worked" to get some juice and pulp but the grinder did not press all the good stuff out. If you are considering this for tomatoes, I would suggest investing in tomato press for sauces, a little more expensive but you're only left with seed and skin. Will be giving this away to a friend.
