The Popcorn Kernel Catcher works great, but capacity is overstated.
My hot air popcorn popper produces 16 cups (4 quarts) of popcorn from ½ cup of raw kernels. I have been using a sieve to remove the un-popped (old maids) kernels which is cumbersome. The Amazon product description for the APSI Kernel Catcher Popcorn Bowl, “Bowl holds 4 quarts / 1 microwave bag of popped corn” caught my eye as a less cumbersome way to remove old maids. When I opened the package, it appeared to me that the bowel was smaller than 16 cups. I did a quick calculation for a cylinder resulting in a capacity of slightly over 13 cups, about 20% smaller than the advertised 16 cups. To verify my calculation, I popped 16 cups of popcorn. Using an 8 cup measuring cup, I filled the kernel catcher bowl to the brim, maximum it would hold, with 14 cups of popcorn. The good news is that the bowl can accommodate a microwave bag of popped popcorn which is typically 10 to 12 cups, not 16 as implied in the description. The APSI Kernel Catcher Popcorn Bowl removes most of the old maids if not overfilled. I filled the bowel to the top, as stated above, shook, and a significant number of old maids was captured. I noticed that shaking when filled to the maximum didn’t allow much movement of the popped kernels. So, I emptied the collection cup and shook again. This time I captured a few more kernels. I recommend not filling the bowl with more than 12 cups of popped popcorn. This allows sufficient agitation of the popped kernels to allow the old maids to drop to the bottom. If you are using a popcorn popper making batches larger than microwave bags, 12 cups, I recommend kernel removal in batches of less than 12 cups. Overall, the product is well built and sturdy, with sieve holes the correct size for separating the old maids from the popped kernels. I recommend this product.

I NEEDED this!!
About a year ago, I bit into an ice cube and it cracked one of my rear molars! I ended up having the rear mollar saved by having a crown put in instead of a complete root canal. So, I've been eating a lot of popcorn here lately and randomly I'll pick up a kernel and have to spit it out. Being paranoid and terrified to death that I might accidentally get a hold of one or a couple and bite into that tooth and that would be a major No-No! I deal with arts and crafts, creating unusual useful gizmos. I had actually thought of makeshifting some kind of a pan with holes in it to put in the bottom of my salad bowl for my popcorn. Well thanks to Google and doing an image search, it led me to here on Amazon and seeing this product just blew my mind! So I bought one, and it's a complete lifesaver! After I pop my popcorn and put it in the bowl, shake it around a little bit and all the unpop kernels go through the little holes and into that screw on lid at the very bottom. It's a totally new game changer for me and it's totally awesome and perfect! There are no cons whatsoever with this product! Thank you so much!

Absolutely Amazing
This thing works as advertised. I once broke a tooth on a popcorn kernel. Set me back several thousand dollars. Now, by investing $25, I can save four grand. Last night I popped some Orville Redenbacher popcorn. I emptied the bag by sort of sliding the popcorn out and tilting the bowl, being careful to encourage the bottom side of the bag to be at the bottom of the bowl. Then I watched TV and ate the popcorn normally. It worked like a charm! All the big pieces were at the top, and they stayed that way all the way to the bottom. At the end, there was just the empty bowl. Not a single kernel was left at the bottom of the bowl! I really didn't expect it to work so well. A+++++++

Popcorn lovers must have
If you’re a popcorn lover, this is a must-have. I used to detest biting into those hard kernels, but now I don’t have to worry about that anymore. The kernels pass through the holes in the bottom, leaving you with nothing but delicious popcorn.
