The Encyclopedia of Angels, Second Edition

This has become one of my 'go-to' books when working with the lesser known angels, and other personalities or celebrities from the historical religious and occult world. Well researched and wonderfully written, this is a must have book for anyone who is on an angelic journey, and one that I am so thankful that I purchased.

My brother loves researching mythology, history, and basically anything that an encyclopedia is useful for. He was particular about the style of book, and I spent a while choosing the right one. It covers a good amount of material and has nice images to go with it. I haven't looked through it much, but he loves it, so I recommend it for anyone interested in detailed angelogrophy.

I love this book. Forget everything you think you know about Angels and pick this up. It is one of my most treasured books and if it isn't resting in my lap it's on my coffee table or bed-side stand.

I really enjoy this book. I bought it primarily as reference material (I'm a novelist, though not yet published). It turns out, though, that I just enjoy looking at the book even when I'm not looking through it for specific information. It's well-written; a very important feature of any book, but particularly books like this, which deal with touchy subjects. It is difficult to strike the right tone since angels are part of some people's religious beliefs and fantasy for others. I thought the author did a great job at being respectful and informative without painting angels as either fact or fiction. (I personally believe in them.) I was slightly disappointed that none of the illustrations were colored: they are all black-and-white. They are still very interesting but I do think an occasional splash of color would have really enhanced the book quite nicely. Other then that, it's excellent. If you are interested in angels as fiction, fact, or any other reason, I think you'll be glad you bought this fairly comprehensive book.

Well organized arrangement of heavenly angels names, descriptions and occupations.

In general. I am satisfied with the book and rich history of Angels wide Range of folklore get me interested in wide range characters in jewish and Christianity too.Bible characters too. Step aside from witches get insight in Angelic history get me hook.

Rosemary's dedication to exhaustive research is evident in her fabulous book of reference. If readers want to know anything about angels--myths, origins of lore and facts--they need look no further. Guiley's book is jam-packed with information that provides many key points and leads for further investigation. Her book was extremely helpful in my research. If you want to explore the realm of the mystical and paranormal, this is a great place to begin.

When I ordered this item, I didn't quite know what to expect - but I was absolutely blown away by this book. Of all the books on angels I've ever read, it's the most comprehensive, the most objective, and the most beautiful. The author covers just about anything and everything that has come from any tradition that embraces them, and the book is copiously illustrated with appropriate paintings, manuscript illuminations, statues, and any other form of visual depiction of these intriguing but elusive beings. I strongly recommend this book not only for angel enthusiasts, but for serious scholars as well.

Great present and not just an ordinary read and a great gift with it being an encyclopaedia

Great encyclopaedia, has tons of info about the angels. Fascinating.. but I just wish that there was more internal active linking in the ebook, as there's such a wealth of information contained.
