Can anyone confirm if these would work for a "apec top tier 5-stage ultra safe reverse osmosis drinking water filter system (essence roes-50)" thanks

I own the same system, bought in November 2014. Just installed this filter kit. Sure, it works, but shame on Apec for changing the stage 5 filter fitting without any notice at all, no instructions included if you have the previous system (hello...I bought it 3 years ago, so now buying this membrane replacement kit, I can't be the only one affected!), and not including the 2" of tubing required to use the replacement filter. Luckily, I had some tubing lying around, but many people will have to stop work, go to the hardware store, and buy a roll of tubing just due to a bad idea by Apec. Anyway, this is the only option to change your filter, just know you will need a small piece of tubing. Love this system!

How do you know when you have to change the filters?

Question is 10 months old, but I'll share my info anyway: I just talked to APEC, and ordered the three pre filters (from APEC). I'm on a municipal water source, and use roughly one gallon a day for drinking water. Based on those two factors, they told me to change the pre filters every 12 to 14 months, and the 4th and 5th filters every four years. If you are on a well, which I'm sure will have more solids in the water, my guess is every six months. Just so you know, APEC sells the pre filters that needs to be changed more often separately, so you can save some $$ buying directly from APEC. Their customer service is extremely friendly and helpful (1-800-880-4808).

Does apec have a recycling program for used filters? if not, how do they recommend disposing of them? thank you!

We do not offer a recycling program for used filters. You may want to contact your local city to see if they offer any program. If not they would just be discarded in your regular trash bin.
