They strip the ends of wires perfectly, which makes the process really satisfying. I've even found myself stripping spare wires just for fun. So,I've been using the knipex auto wire strippers for years now, but when I went from contractor to maintenance they supplied my tools and my original pair is still going strong after 7 years of terminating everything from 36 triad PAFA and FTB panels to power distribution, outlets, car stereos... hands down the best 👌 so nice to get into tight spots and not worry about racking knuckles, or touch the Bus or knocking loose something live, slipping that one wire in the middle of an existing terminated strip without having to reform and cut zip ties. Not to mention outlets and GUAs were it was maybe ran a lil on the short side.. literally, almost everything!...I've only come across a few brands of cheaper wire that they didn't care for the specific plasticity on that insulation. However, this pair is less than a year old and I believe it was the 10-15°F temp that caused mine to break stripping some newer 14 gauge stranded. I would like to see knipex enhance the polymer around the jaws or maybe they need a little more metal reinforcement. Otherwise, perfect time saving, money making, quality enhancing product. Never, leaves a mark on my copper solid, stranded, or fine strand. Just make sure you adjust your jaws to the gauge and try a small bit on the depth first.

I bought these Knipex automatic wire strippers from Amazon in December 2022 (used, in very good condition). They quickly became my go-to wire strippers and worked flawlessly for years. Eventually, however, I noticed inconsistent performance and discovered a hairline crack in a plastic component. Despite attempts to repair it, the tool continued to deteriorate.While researching a permanent fix, I learned about Knipex’s lifetime warranty. Although I knew the warranty applied only to the original purchaser, I contacted Knipex anyway. They asked me to send in the damaged tool for evaluation, and after a simple email exchange and shipment to their U.S. service center, they sent me a brand-new replacement—despite having no obligation to do so.Here’s the takeaway: I’ve owned several Knipex tools over the years (various Cobra pliers, insulated screwdrivers, etc), but this level of customer service earned my loyalty for life. It seems to me that nowadays, when most companies engage in the “planned obsolescence” of their products to maximize profits, few things build lasting loyalty like a company that exceeds expectations when it doesn’t have to.

Small manufacturing setting (300-500 strips daily). These are simply incredible. General wisdom in manufacturing is that hand tools can't compete with the efficiency of an machine. So when mine died and needed replacement, I was faced with the 1200.00 unit now at 3,000+ with tariffs. I bought the Knipex for something else, but decided to try it for mass production. Suffice to say I ordered 6 more. Simple to setup, and just as fast to strip, with even, uniform cuts as the machine. It is a bit loud, but what isn't in a wire harness factory. I spent 300.00 and our output is indistinguishable from what it was with the machine. No fatigue reported by staff despite hundreds of strips at a time. And this is their budget version..This is my 4th distinct Knipex tool, and every one has been exceptional. They are worth every cent.

This is one of those purchases that I can't believe I ever lived without. I absolutely love these.I am an engineering professional and work with wires and solding and crimping on a daily basis. I had been using the traditional design of handheld wire strippers for a very long time, and had some high volume work that required stripping lots of wires to a specific length, so I looked for something to help with precision on stripping length. These seemed expensive but possibly worth it, so I took the dive.When I first got them, I though the build quality was suspect. They are super lightweight, all plastic construction. But I'm a believer after using them on a daily basis for about six months now. They're durable and do exactly what you need them to do. You can adjust tension for harder/softer wire jackets. You can adjust the strip length for repeatable strips. They're super fast. They're a pleasure to use, each and every strip. Sometimes you need to do a blank strip (just pump the gun without a wire in place) to get stripped bits to eject - they can get stuck in the tool jaws - but it's no big deal. They're self adjusting and *never* result in sheared wire strands. Every strip is great.The only issue is that there is a minimum strip length of about 5mm. You can go shorter but the tool doesn't help with repeatability on anything less than 5mm. That's perfectly fine - I got different tool for shorter strip lengths. These are absolute gold for what they were designed to do.

The first impulse to buy this tool was:I have a similar unbranded stripper that is nearing EOL, the knives are getting dull.Knowing Knipex through decades as a manufacturer with a reputation for quality tools, I assumed I could not go wrong with this wire stripper.Wrong I went.First impression is that it is smaller than expected. Next I find that the "business" components like the pull-back slide that look like grey metal in the picture actually are some composite plastic material. On further inspection, there are just a few metallic parts made from stamped and layered sheet metal in this tool, nothing solid here, all components are optimized for low production cost, as opposed to rigidity and durability.The most disappointing moment: I try to strip an AWG 10 THHN wire, and the tool is incapable to do the job. Initially, the knives ride on top of the insulation and just scrape surface, nothing else.Applying some force on the jaws to get a deeper bite into the insulation stops the scraping, however, the knives do not cut the insulation, instead, they try to pull the barely cut insulation off the wire. Certainly, the nylon cover on the THHN is tough stuff, but the tool was advertised to handle AWG10.At this point, the plastic handle is bending to a degree where I might break the tool. It feels spongy, and although I apply quite some force, it plain just does not cut it, even trying to rotate the knives around the cable.So for that part: Forget all about stripping AWG10 THHN wire with it. No friggin' way.I later tried it on much softer rubber insulated cable ranging from AWG22 (CAT5 Network Cable) up to AWG 12 - with better result - but that is NOT what i needed this tool for.It's just too sad to see yet another reputable German toolmaker cut corners in terms of quality and slowly going south. This tool is disappointing, specially looking at the price tag.

I can accurately cut and strip 24 awg solid core wires for my breadboards now.

Muy bien el trabajo que realiza, con cualquier diámetro lo hace bien, quizás la única pega es que se ve endeble, plastico por todos lados. Habrá que ver que resultado da a largo plazo.
