Holy cow would you look at this someone finally thought "Hmm having 2 or 3 remotes is a real pain... were is remote 1? Were is 2? Argh too many remotes and I just wanna watch Netflix!" Its about time someone finally made a solution to the age old problem of "Why do we need so many darn remote for one thing?", well as soon as I found out this was a thing I bought it and I never have been more happier. Programing the thing is pretty easy you hold the buttons you put the other controller you want to copy said action to in front of the thing and bam! Your done! My current setup is a TV with a soundbar and just to Turn on the TV, then the Sound bar and then finally the Fire stick would be 3 controllers. this thing cuts that down to 1 and it does the job perfectly. Not only is it stylish but it looks like one of those things that should of been part of the controller to begin with, the best part is like I said, it just works, that's the best part, no numbers to input to program every single device just copy each action you want from each controller and your ready to have a good time watching anything from a good Netflix series to some really long YouTube Lets plays or even some Jabroni streaming on Twitch all with just ONE REMOTE, one to rule them all. I have a button for Volume up and down, one to Switch TV Inputs, one to Turn on the TV, One to Turn on the Sound Bar, and one to Switch the Sound Bar's input, everything is just like I wanted it. So you want to make your life easier? Buy this already if your dealing with 3 or 4 Remotes, its worth it.

Update 3: Alexa Voice Remote Pro 2022. (July 2023) Wanted to purchase the Pro remote when it was first released, but there was zero information on compatibility with the Sideclick. A year later and still zero information, but the Pro remote was on sale so bought one to find out. Sideclick ships with two plastic adapters: An FA adapter for the original 1st generation remote that is 1.7 inches wide, and an FB adapter for the 2nd and 3rd generation remotes that are 1.5 inches wide. Unfortunately the bottom and sides of the Alexa Voice Remote Pro have less of a curve than the earlier 2nd/3rd generation remotes, but as the Pro remote is about 1.5 inches wide, it Mostly Fits the FB adapter at an angle with one side of the remote being higher than the other. Inserted it from the side rather than front-to-back as was worried about breaking the adapter, but it Mostly Fits, and other than the Pro remote buttons being at a slight tilt... seems Close Enough. Although it is a tight fit, added some black tape for extra stability. Will try to include a few pictures of the AVRP 2022 for comparison. ----------------- Update 1: With the new Fire TV Second Gen Remote. (Feb 2019) Am now using the Sideclick with the new Amazon 2nd Gen Fire TV remote that comes with dedicated volume, mute, and power buttons. After using it for a few days I felt comfortable enough to reprogram those buttons on the Sideclick to something else and let volume/power/mute be handled by the new Amazon remote. So now I have "picture in picture" control (needs 3 buttons) and the "program info" button. I did not see any Customer Images of the Sideclick with the new remote, so will try to add one. I still love using Audible for the Fire TV, and Sideclick allows me to program in "Power-Saving-Screen-Off" to save energy while still allowing the audio to play! My second favorite programmed button is "change TV input". Update 2: Was glancing around, and noticed someone's comment that the Sideclick does NOT handle "RF"signals, so would not work with proprietary cable box remotes that use RF. I didn't see anything "Universal" in a $30 price point that would. Then again, I use OTA TV so would not have this issue, but it's good to know for the future and recommending it to others. Previous Review --------------------------- I bought a Fire TV 2017/Pendant/Gen3 on Prime Day when it was around half off, so adding another $30 for the remote seemed excessive. Ex: I once bought a small 7-button generic remote for $10-ish. However on trying Sideclick out - MONEY WELL SPENT. Only trick is to hold down the "top" and "bottom" buttons together to get the Sideclick into "learning mode", then have it copy signals off an existing remote. Takes less than a minute to set all the buttons, and reprogramming later is just as easy. I tend to use Universal Remotes as it allows me to stash the original in a safe place, especially as remotes Love to Go Hide when one isn't looking. I also have a $10-ish remote that works by beaming random signals at a TV till ?? volume-goes-up-and-down ?? , then press a button to halt it's cycling through codes. It gets: Power. Input, Mute, channel up/down and volume up/down, but it took **FIFTEEN** minutes of waiting till it "found" the right code. I can reprogram the Sideclick for a different device in seconds, so Sideclick wins. With Eight buttons to choose from, I chose the generic seven buttons featured on the $10 remote (( Power. Input, Mute, channel up/down and volume up/down )) but still had an extra button left over. Button #8 was a no-brainer - "Power Saving/Picture Off" - as that allows me to listen to Audible audio books without leaving the TV's screen on, saving energy and $$. If I want to change the buttons tomorrow or next week I'd spend more time wondering what to choose than configuring the Sideclick. Install was a breeze. I picked the "clip" that fit best, added batteries, and put the pieces together with the Fire TV Remote. Programmed and tested out the buttons, and pretty much done. Only minus was that the "clip" is a bit loose on the Fire TV remote, so the Sideclick does shift forward-and-back a little. Fixed this with two small pieces of black tape. Even better was Sideclick's small size. My Fire TV Remote lives in a Nice Small Wooden Box when not in use (See: Remotes Love to Go Hide). I was worried that the modified remote would no longer fit in my Nice Small Wooden Box, but the combined footprint is hardly anything at all. Not even 1/8" extra height and about 1" added width. Of course, the $10 remote can't fit in the Nice Small Wooden Box anymore, but it's no longer needed as Sideclick = Perfection. Many thanks to all the excellent reviews (and pictures!) as they convinced me to make the purchase. POSSIBLY IMPORTANT One thing that does not appear to be clear to 100% of the buying public is that this is a "LEARNING" "Universal Remote" **NOT** a "Try Random Frequencies Till it Works" or "Enter a Code to Select Model xxxx" type of remote. So in a nutshell: YOU NEED SOMETHING TO PROGRAM/TEACH THE SIDECLICK WITH. If you have no remote to "teach" it anything, then the Sideclick can't "learn" anything. You would need to purchase (hint: amazon!) a remote that would function with your device to then "teach" the Sideclick the appropriate commands. Many generic universal remotes are out there that have Tons o' Codes that you would need to "enter" into the remote to get generic responses for your various devices, etc. My Sony Universal remote has an extremely long PDF o' codes for various brands, etc. It also can "learn" if I aim an existing remote at it, like the Sideclick does. My $10 generic remote just beams signals till it gets "something" and I hit a button on it to the cycling of frequencies (so no "codes" required) but it requires one to be Very Patient and Wait with the remote (almost 15 minutes) till "it" happens. If you are too slow to miss the window - oops - try again.

I love this thing, It feels like I upgraded my home entertainment system as it no longer has the clumsy piecemeal put together feel to using the remotes. Before getting it I had 3 remotes to juggle. The firestick, TV and soundbar. I really wanted to simplify thing, but the universals such as the Harmony remote seemed overkill and complex. So I got this hoping that it would solve my needs, and also hoping that the odd shape it causes would not be a turnoff. The odd shape it causes is not a issue at all and the remote feels fine. They are solidly attached and feel good in the hand. As for function, you get 8 programable buttons which you can set to anything on any other remote. This just happened to be perfect for my needs. Further the symbols were also matching the functions pretty darn well. For me: The TV uses the 'power', +, - and 'A' buttons, for TV power, Volume up and down and mute. The sound bar uses 'Source' button 'Up' and 'down' arrow and 'B' button for the same functions in that order. I did like it taht the symbols basically matched what I needed it for, so it is sight intuitive, even if a bit off. I do also have a Roku that I also occasionally use, and smartcasting right to the TV (so not truly one remote, but basically I only use this most of the time), but that is not a problem as the TV selects based on HDMI source, so I don't need a separate source selection button, but some older TV's may have to use a button for that. One last note, I had a problem programming the sideclick in a room with some compact florescent lighting, Once I turned off the lighting it programed perfectly. Programming is easy.

This is a great add-on for the Fire TV remote. I have a Fire TV hooked up to a TCL TV and after playing around with the settings and HDMI CEC settings on the TV, I came to accept that the Fire TV remote just couldn't do it all. I can get my TV to power on when the Fire TV wakes from sleep, but couldn't get the TV to turn off when the Fire TV (and I) went to sleep. That and there was no way to control the volume without the original TV remote. Bouncing between two remotes was fine, but when half asleep and having finished my stories for the night, I was looking for a way to put the TV to sleep so I could go to sleep. The Sideclick keeps my thumb in control, and removes the need to dig around for another remote, half asleep, in the dark. Looking around and doing some searches brought me to the Sideclick. Currently, it is pretty much the only add-on remote for the Fire TV, and I am fine with that. It works great. It was easy to program. It actually took me longer to decided what I wanted each button to do than it did to program the buttons. Power and Volume were givens, but that left me with 5 others buttons to my TV as I wish. I was a little worried that remote would add extra bulk or width to my existing remote, but once I got it hooked up and started controlling my TV with a single remote, the joy overshadowed my initial concerns. With the Sideclick, my remote is still smaller than my iPhone 7 Plus, which has been at the command of a single thumb for a while now. The only complaint (if you could call it that...maybe more of a personal issue that I have) is that the buttons on the far left side of the FireTV remote are very close to the raised edge of the clip that holds the remote in the Sideclick. The back and rewind buttons on the Fire TV remote are very close to the raised edge of the plastic holder, making it a little harder to just slide my thumb across or find the buttons I once knew to be at the edge, but as I watch my stories I can just ask Alexa to go back or rewind using my nearby dot.

After Direct TV inflated my bill, I decided to cut the cord all together and go with Hulu Live. I was fretting a bit over this as I have an elaborate IR remote that controls every component. So my question was how in the world was I going to control the Firestick, TV and my receiver for the ultimate sound. I found out I could plug my Firestick directly into my Marantz receiver. I get my quality surround sound, but now have to go back to having multiple remotes to adjust volume on one and change channels on the other. What a pain! There was no way I was going to call a tech guy to come out again to program my all in one remote at $100.00. And who knows if it would of worked with a Firestick. So I decided to do some research since I’m new to this Internet TV thing and ran across the Sideclick. For the price it was worth a shot. It arrived and I was like a kid in the candy store, no more multiple remotes. I read the instructions, proceeded with programming and nothing. Had I just been defeated? I did an internet search and found others had trouble connecting a Marantz receiver. Oh the disappointment, but wait, I’m an idiot! After several attempts of trying to program, an internet search of issues, I realized that I had the sideclick slid to the bottom of Firestick remote and when I tried to pair the remotes I was actually trying to pair the Firestick remote, not the Sideclick. I slid the unit forward, place an inch away from my existing remote, went through the motions and BAM, it worked! So far I’ve only had this remote for about 8hrs, but wow, I can control the volume, change channels, turn the receiver on and off along with TV all from basically one remote. It’s the simple things that make us happy!

It's ok for what it is. However, they should have spent more time in the ergonomics department. I'm a stickler for attention to detail because that's what takes a good product and turns it into a great product. This item falls short. The tolerances on the fit are not precise. There is a gap between the remote portion and the attachment brackets where if I squeeze it, it flexes and makes that annoying plastic squeak. Also, the fact that it is slightly smaller than the voice remote is awkward; both in looks and feel. The remote feels weird in the hand. Again, it's not the size; it's the ergonomics. The back of the Amazon remote has a divot where your index finger would naturally fall when holding the remote. They could have matched this in the Sideclick to improve the ergonomics, but didn't. This is compounded by the fact that the Sideclick slides up and down on the remote because of the terrible clip-on attachment, despite the rubber piece on the inside of the clip that (I assume) is supposed to prevent this. Why couldn't they have integrated the attachment piece to replace the battery cover of the remote? This would have been a much more elegant solution. The way it is now with the clip, when you press the back, menu, rewind, or fast forward buttons, your thumb is always hitting the clip attachment and reminds you of how not-well-thought-out this attachment method was. One last thing about the clip attachment: there is way too much play between the clip attachment and the remote itself. I can wiggle the Sideclick remote up and down around the Amazon remote. Speaking of attention to detail, the plastic used for the Sideclick is a different texture than the Amazon remote. The Amazon remote is a smooth plastic, while the Sideclick is textured. Again, not a huge deal, but it definitely affects the user experience whether consciously or subconsciously. For $30, I expected more attention to detail. I will be keeping this product, but only because it's the only game in town currently that does what I need without spending $200 on a Harmony Hub combo.

Giving it four out of five, Seems like a great little add-on, I had to get one cause my recent tv purchase does not have the correct codes for the regular fire stick to control the on and off function, "KTC google tv" So got this and now with one remote I can now control my tv by turning it on and off with one single device along with the function to switch out the input as well...Process was simple to use to program this add-on, took less then 5 mins to get all buttons how I wanted them to be used, My only real complaint is I wish it had more buttons to it, Even a added circle button would be fantastic, It would full on replace the OG remote for my tv, But for now I am really pleased with it! Also not sure why so many people are buying this device since most brands can control the on and off of most major brand tvs on the market with just the standard firestick in the settings menu!

最初の目的は、fireTVリモコンが小さいからか、たまに見つからなくなってしまう。 アッタチメントがあれば、大きくなって良いなあくらいで購入したんですが、これが便利でした。 テレビ本体・音量・チャンネル・入力切替が、fireTVリモコン一つで出来てしまう。 ４Kリモコンでは、音量操作が出来ますが、今のモデルにはついていません。 新しく買うには、昨年買ったばかりだしと思っていたので良かったです。 拡張用のボーナスボタンが、あと2つ残っているので照明も設定しようかと思います。 アタッチメントが２つ入っていましたが、最初に付けてしまったのが、第一世代のfireTVリモコン用 だったらしく、取り外すのに難儀しました。最初にアタッチメントにfireTVリモコンをつけて確認し たほうが良いです。電池も単4が2つ、最初からついていたのも良いですね。 学習リモコンなので、設定はシンプルでした。日本語説明書がついていました。 英語ですがｙｏｕｔｕｂｅにも設定方法がありますので、安心できると思います。

+ passt perfekt an die Fire TV Fernbedienung + Ist sehr leicht und in max 2 min fertig programmiert + Verarbeitung und Qualität ist TOP O Preislich finde ich das Gerät etwas zu hoch, aber wie heißt es so schön: Qualität zahlt sich aus habe mittlerweile für alle meine drei FireTV's im Haus die sideclick und meine TV Fernbedienungen liegen im Keller in einer Kiste :-)

Easy to program, Just what you need to reduce the number of remotes in your hand to one only. To put this much control into a small module is great engineering.
