Joy

This is a really great Christmas album from SCC. I have enjoyed his body of work since the early 2000's and I think this may be my favorite album of his I've ever heard although it's probably a tie between this album and "Speechless". He's a great musician with a talent for describing ideas from scripture in song without them coming across as "cornball".... which is how I feel about most modern, contemporary Christian musicians. (apologies to those of you who enjoy that music. It's just not enough meat and potatoes for me)

For those that have continued to faithfully purchase SCC music as their family has navigated this admittedly difficult season of life - Joy will will be an exciting return to the style and joyfulness in music and songwriting that drew us to SCC to begin with. The music is wonderful. One of his best albums in the past five years!!! Makes me look forward to Christmas...and to the next SCC album. He has found his joy for sure. Welcome back SCC!!!!!

Steven Curtis Chapman delivers the goods! His new Christmas album "Joy" is such a pleasure to listen to. SCC has been a favorite artist of mine since the late 80's and although I lost touch with his music in the late 90's, I am now getting re-aquainted with his back catalogue and ordering his CDs. My favorite tracks on Joy are: "Christmas Time Again," "Christmas Kiss," his cover of "Christmas Time Is Here," and "Christmas Card." The entire album is feel good and worthy of repeat playing. God bless Steven Curtis Chapman and his ministry of music which never fails to lift my spirits!

One of my new all-time favorite Christmas albums. This was in heavy rotation this year and will be for years to come I'm sure. Love his voice, the selection of songs - both reflective of the true meaning of Christmas and some fun lighthearted cheer as well.

First off, I love this album. Steven offers up some wonderful new songs with which we can praise and worship the King. He also has given us some good recordings of traditional Christmas classics with his own unique spin to them. While these are good songs that he does very well, these songs are also why I only gave this album four stars. These are, as I said, good songs. There is nothing wrong with them. However, why does any Christian singer feel the need to include secular songs on their Christmas albums? I mean, there are SO MANY great Christian Christmas songs to choose from! With that said, I don't want to take away from Steven's talent and God-given gift. Both of which shine throughout this entire album. My preference is just to be able to worship and praise our Lord with EVERY song and I just can't do that with this album.

I don't own all of SCC's albums - but I like to find new Christmas music each year. Sometimes it seems to be cookie-cutter and manufactured. But, every once in a while a rare gem comes around - and that's what SCC has done with his latest. Great guitar work - across a number of genres/styles - fun arrangements, and solid vocals, make this worth the download. Thanks for nailing it, SCC! Merry Christmas!

SSC is always good... and his very first Christmas album is one of my all time favs and is never off my rotation list... JOY is now on permanent rotation as well... Steven's renditions of the classic carols are wonderful and his newly written songs are amazing, uplifting and hopeful! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

So glad to see SCC back in the Christmas spirit. Classic songs are done well, and the original songs are fantastic! The second track is my favorite, mostly because it just sounds like he is having so much fun! This CD is quickly becoming one of my Christmas favorites!

Nach "Music of Christmas" und "All I Realy Want For Christmas" liefert SCC nun sein drittes Weihnachtsalbum. SCC ist hier eine gute Mischung aus neuen und traditionellen Weihnachtsliedern gelungen, wobei die traditionellen Lieder ausgepeppt wurden. Mit 'Joy to the World' und 'Christmas Time Again' startet das Album und vermittelt einem sofort die Freude von Weihnachten. 'Christmas in Kentucky' ist da schon ehr ein gefühlvolles Lied und beschreibt die Weihnachtsstimmung von SCC und seiner Familie. Track 4 'Do You Hear What I Her?' ist ein sehr berührendes Lied. Hier lohnt es sich mal genau auf den Text zu achten, mir steigen immer noch Tränen in die Augen, wenn ich es höre. Gefühlvoll geht es mit 'Christmas Kiss' und 'Let It Snow' weiter, wobei 'Let It Snow' richtig swingt und absolut Spaß macht. Dies ist nur ein kleinen Einblick in das Album. Meiner Meinung nach ist es absolut gelungen und mehr als hörenwert, auch wenn man noch nichts von Steven Curtis Chapman kennt. Wer jedoch die vorhergehenden Weihnachtsalben schon sein eigen nenen kann und gefällt, der wird von "Joy" nicht enttäuscht werden.

Es lohnt sich die CD zu kaufen!Steven Curtis Chapman ist auch auf dieser Platte großartig und es ist alles andere als langweilig diese zu hören!
