Great platter, but no packing materials .
Beautiful platter. Nice size to display our culinary creations. My only complaint is not about the product, but how it was shipped. There was absolutely no packing materials in the box. The platter was able to slide around the Amazon box quite a bit. We were worried we would find it broken, but luckily it was not.

Gorgeous high-sided plates, made in Belgium
These are gorgeous stoneware plates. They are made in Belgium, designed by Italian graphic artist, Ivo Bisignano in collaboration with British chef/restaurateur, Yotam Ottolenghi. I will buy just about anything with Ottolenghi's name attached to it because, as a follower of him and his reataurants for years, I am well aware of his perfectionism and high standards. These plates are no exception. The design, like Ottolenghi's recipes, is delightful and unusual. The glaze is flawless. The stoneware is appropriately weighty and thankfully practical. This particular set of plates isvery much on the small side. I would describe them as being somewhere between a bread plate and a salad plate. They are called breakfast plates, and would fit a piece of avocado toast, but not really a full breakfast. They are also described as dessert plates, and the rim is nicely deep enough that a dessert with a sauce or Creme Anglaise would work without trouble. Really pleased with these plates. I would love to get more of this set when available - it's fun and unusual.

Nice, heavy small plates
I seem to have a thing for small fancy plates that you can actually use and not just have them for show, and this set really appealed to me. These are stoneware but not near as heavy as some others that I have, probably due to the smaller size. These will be durable without being so heavy that they are too hard to handle or wash for seniors. The abstract design is very cool, beautifully artistic and colorful. It's funny I was looking at the plates and seeing a face until another reviewer mentioned 2 faces looking at each other, and now that's what I see, so Fun! I could imagine them being used in a high end restaurant with a very fancy dessert or appetizer on them. I washed them before putting them in my cupboard and they washed fine, I tested them with a light duty brush and the design was fine, I do have a dishwasher but I will probably not put these in there, just my personal choice even though they are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Calling this what it is: vanity art, and ugly
My kid can do this, and he did recreate this unremarkable artwork, because he was laughing at how bad this artwork is. This just doesn't take any talent or skill to create, it's not wonderful. I think it scares the food I set on it. This is vanity celebrity art, not worth the price. It's just bad art relying upon ego and a century-old modernist reification of primitivism to achieve any value, and this type of value is fiction, false. Value of these plates are the functional value of the ceramics. The ceramics, though, are fantastic.

Expensive plates made in China, Geared to a niece crowd.
Short, Sweet, And Simple Review. Upon receiving this product and opening it, I immediately recognized that it’s definitely geared towards a niche crowd, but I do appreciate the artwork for reasons I can't quite pinpoint. I also ordered some drinking glasses from the same company, endorsed by the same designer and chef. While I'm unsure who this designer is—having never seen their name attached to anything else—I’m no one special but seasoned enough as a professional chef by trait to be cautious when it comes to designer-endorsed products. These can either be truly high-end or just gimmicky. In this case, I question why the designer chose to manufacture this product in China. Given China's reputation for mass-producing almost anything, it’s rare to find truly high-end quality from there. Why wouldn't the designer opt for a country known for its quality glass and porcelain production? My theory is that they’re trying to maximize profit by using cheaper labor and materials that mimic high-end quality—something China is notorious for, given the abundance of cloned products in the market today. I find it hard to justify purchasing these plates for this reason. It’s somewhat disappointing, in my opinion, for a designer to place their name on what feels like dollar-store-quality products while charging a premium. Regardless of how luxurious or abstract these plates appear, I would recommend looking for a designer-endorsed product where the designer actually cares about the quality of the materials and manufacturing process. It's more reassuring to invest in a product where the designer prioritizes quality and craftsmanship over profit.

Fabulous Small Plates
I love good quality useful items, so when the factors of unusual and beautiful are added to the equation then I'm overjoyed. This set of four adorable approximately 6" stoneware plates arrived, and three of them are in great condition but one of the four plates had a chip. This was distressing because the box looked alright except for some smudges and it was not sealed; the inside top plate was the one with the chip and it only had the thin tissue paper on top (which did had a hole in it) whereas the other plates were sandwiched with a cardboard protector. Since the manufacturers yellow box did not have a seal, I'm just assuming this happened somewhere along the way. Nonetheless, Amazon to the rescue, I have put in for a replacement because that's how much I like these plates. They are beautiful with a glazed abstract artistry face that is most becoming. The collaboration of the two different artists made a wonderful presentation for this product. I love art and the practical purposes which will increase my enjoyment of this item; microwavable and dishwasher sate. The back of the plate has a very matte surface to ensure the grip. The raised lip will accommodate so many food items. The three intact ones feel sturdy and well made, and as they pointed out, a feast for the eyes!

Lovely indulgence for fans of the celebrity chef/author Yotam Ottolenghi
What a lovely discovery to find these whimsically designed little plates on offer here! Fans of the justly celebrated London based chef and author (cookbooks, contributions to The Guardian) will find much to admire in this very gift-worthy set of dessert-sized dishes adorned with the results of a collaboration with Italian artist Ivo Bisignano. I am very much enjoying Plenty - a plant-based recipe book by Yotam Ottolenghi - gifted to me by friends I’m always pleased to have educate me with experiences gained by their adventures in the culinary world. The recipes are as beautifully photographed and presented as they are flavorful. I am looking forward to returning the favor by presenting these cheerful little plates to them as my gift. Although I’ll always enjoy stumbling upon little luxuries of connection to my enthusiasms in person - it’s certainly quite convenient to discover thoughtfully designed items such as these plates online. Overall it’s quite nice that Serax has made this collaboration available here - for the perfect gift for your foodie friends - I’d suggest pairing them with an Ottolenghi cookbook!
