I was referred to these locks on Amazon by the manufacturer of an extrior dog security door, as they told me these were the ones they use in their product. They were exactly the same as the original locks (which lasted nearly ten years), and I was able to use them to repair a very expensive security door at a fraction of the cost of a new door!

Our 5.5 year old son figures out every type of lock but struggles with memorizing numbers, something we are actually extremely thankful for right now. We've used all the recommended locks for alzheimer's patients but he's figured all of them out. He can bust off any child proofing so those are out too. We were getting ready to drop $1,500+ on three 2 way coded locks for exterior doors when someone recommended these combo slide locks. They're perfect! Our son hasn't figured them out and it's been a couple of months now. This is important since he is nonverbal, his gps tracker doesn't always work, and he is a repeat wanderer. These keep him safe and allow us to use the bathroom or shower or even just sleep without keeping an eye and an ear out for an exterior door opening. Now for the lock itself. Seems well built. We had to adjust it a bit to fit our 1990's doors and mukti-level door frames. Some shims and nuts (what we had on hand) were all that were needed to get it lined up. The bolt slides fairly easily, it sticks a bit, which makes it loud when opening and closing it. Not a problem for us, as it would buy us time to hear if our son managed to figure it out at some point. As others may have mentioned, in the open position, it displays the unlocking code and the numbers cannot be moved. Keep this in mind if it's something you need to remain a secret. Once you slide the bolt closed, then you can spin the numbers and you have to do this otherwise it can be slid open again without entering the code. The other lock in the photo is the Door Guardian, recommended for alzheimer's patients, and it worked great here before he figured out how to open it.

Wish zero stars was an option! I paid to have this installed on an iron garden gate, it broke before the contractor even left, paid him to remove it. The slide bolt pulls right through and opens, even when “ locked”. I now have holes drilled in the iron gate. The company that sells the lock never responded to my complaint, or to amazon’s request for them to contact me. It is a huge piece of junk! It was thrown in the trash!

Easy to install, tumbler is pretty easy to turn.

I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews. When the lock is open you cannot move the dials ... so there is no way to keep the combo secret unless you want to change it every time you open the lock. No bueno. I am going to return it.

It seems solid and big but in my opinion has a critical defect, which is that the combination cannot be scrambled once the bolt is open. Anyone who notes the numbers when the bolt is open will know the combination. Or, you will have to set and memorize a new combination each time you plan to close the bolt....

A great solution when you have to keep someone in the house, not just keep intruders out. My wife with dementia wanders and would try to get out but now, problem solved!

The product is ok but bent when installing it on an uneven gate surface.

First use my wife flipped the toggle that’s used for setting the code instead of just entering the code to unlock. This rendered the unit useless and required removal. Massively Flawed design. Trash.

Gate lock
