1JJ Swiss Tarot Deck [Kaplan, S.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. 1JJ Swiss Tarot Deck Review: After All These Years It Still Rocks! - Printed in Belgium on cardstock comparable to the 55 year old original 1JJ Swiss decks. No details seem to have been changed. Seems to me to be a bit darker in hue than the original bright and muted runs of the deck, back when it first came out--browns seem deeper, reds deeper, shading of objects and figures a bit deeper. But no details are lost or obscured. Colors across the deck look nice and work well. The English titles on the Majors and Courts may seem a bit odd to you at first if you are used to the French titled deck, but this passes quite quickly, without any impedence whatsoever to the reading of the cards. The LWB still says "Copyright 1970 by S. R. Kaplan," but now also says " Printed in Belgium". Cards shuffle wonderfully straight out of the tuck-box. Minimal glare, and not too slippery to handle, as some modern Tarot decks seem to be. No complaints! Seems the production of the deck is still in good hands. 😊 If you are a 1JJ Swiss fan buy it, you'll like it. 😊 Review: Excelente y huele rico.

Dude en comprarlo porque quería la edición en francés, ya que lo tuve hace años y lo perdí. Aún así me decidí por esta versión y que satisfecha! El material es de calidad y su nitidez es impecable. Y se siente bien con sus nombres en inglés.

Purchased used copy
I bought this deck "used" for next to nothing and when it arrived, I found it was a vintage 1974 deck and the cards were still sealed in their original packaging! One man's trash is truly another man's treasure. As for the deck itself, it's a beautiful TdM style with lovely illustrations and being an older version, the original French titles. The new decks come with badly translated English titles.

A Very Pleasant Surprise
When this deck became available I bought it as a collector's novelty because of its early association with U.S. Games and the intriguing appearance of Juno and Jupiter instead of the Pope and Papess. After seeing a previous reviewer compare it to the Soprafino decks, I expected finely drawn art that would be somewhat stale for readings. However, this deck possesses a unique vitality that combines with the quality of the art to produce a delightful reading deck. For those who fail to connect with the Pope and Papess or their modern equivalents, the High Priestess and the Hierophant, Junon and Jupiter may provide a workable solution. The scenes do present variation from those of the traditional Marseille, but I believe the detail of the figures and the evocativeness of the imagery are enough for an advanced reader to find beneficial. My only complaint is that this deck departs from tradition by listing the titles in English rather than French or Italian. Also this is a pip deck, meaning the suit cards are not fully illustrated, which may make reading difficult for those who are more comfortable with modern decks such as the Rider-Waite.

My first tarot deck from 1972.
Item was in great shape, all cards present and booklet. Box was also in good shape. This was my first tarot deck back in 1972. With the resurgence of interest in the Marseille decks, I thought it would be fun to have this again.
