I used this to protect a budget table with a budget top from a certain Swedish big box furniture store in a home office. My table top feels a bit light and hollow so distributing the clamping force of a mount arm for a heavy-ish 34" ultra-wide monitor seemed like a good idea so the less than robust table would last longer. I also think if you had a much nicer table in solid wood or a wood veneer top, protecting something more precious than a cheap table is also worthwhile. It's probably less necessary with a heavy table top with plastic laminate that's already very robust. It comes with large rubber pads with stickers that you peel off and apply to the top and bottom plates so there is never any metal touching your desk so the protection is an A+. I agree with the other reviewer that the 2 plates are substantial and a good thickness in matte black painted metal. You won't have a problem using this with a heavy-duty monitor mount clamp. The width of the top plate is large enough to accommodate a wider clamp base for a dual-monitor mount as well. This makes it's use case very flexible. I'm actually using it for a single monitor arm plus a task light with a desk clamp. The size works perfectly as long as you can mount your light near the center of the desk next to the monitor arm. Installation was straightforward with the top plate having a lip that you can push against the back table edge so no need to worry about alignment. Overall, this is a great product, easy to install, and is substantial and large enough to work with a dual-monitor mount with larger base clamp. (I don't know what the slot cut-out is for but it wasn't useful to me nor did it bother me.) My only small gripe that wasn't too big a deal: Why is the underside plate smaller than the top plate and also missing the lip for easy alignment? Clamp size and clamp force is mostly equal on top and on underside of the table. The lip would be useful for both the top and underside plates. If the 2 plates were exactly the same and mirrored, it would cost more so I'm OK with the slight compromise and still giving it 5-stars.

I was gifted a 34" monitor to replace my ancient 22" monitor that was mounted on a gas spring arm monitor stand. I was very worried about the additional weight on my glass top desk. Got these beefy heavy-duty reinforcement plates to distribute the weight. This worked out really well. The mount seems more stable even when I am moving & repositioning the monitor. Because of the weight, I did enlisted my husband to help with installation. We encountered no problems - the stand fitted easily over the plate for a easy job. Very happy with the outcome.

Good material, spaces out the pressure so there's less chance for damage. I would have put five star but for two reasons. 1. It didn't stop the mount from slipping due to my desk not being squared on the side. 2. The plate has a lip on one side and one set of adhesive cushion. Once the plate was used for the non-drill mounting with the adhesive cushion put on, it couldn't be peeled off to put on the other side after seeing the plate slip. If there was no lip it would have been a perfect product for ME but I'm sure it will be perfect for someone with a different desk/table.

This is a pretty heavy duty plate, I can't imagine this being insufficient for all but the most demanding of setups. It's very well designed, the adjustability is great and has fit my setup perfectly. I was originally going to use the clamp for my monitor arm, but with this plate providing that assurance of strength I needed, I'm using the drill hold option for an even cleaner look. I know, it's just a plate, but if you're like me and are particular about all aspects of your setup and like to take care of your stuff, you'll appreciate this. The quality of the metal is so strong and the plate is so well built I actually picked up a second set of this to use with a 6" clamp on vise on my workbench, and it's been excellent for that as well.

I have a desktop monitor arm for my fairly heavy monitor. I'm attaching it to an adjustable desktop but the desktop itself is a little more than one half inch thick. This reinforcement place gives that extra support that I was looking for. It comes with two plates, one for the top and one for the bottom. Each has matching protective adhesive pads that are easy to apply. The arm and monitor now feel secure and stable. Not sure about the slot in the middle. Maybe necessary for some mounts however, I would have preferred if it were a just a solid piece with no openings.
