As for keeping my feet from freezing in 50 degree water they work great, but on only the 2nd time using them the ziper on one of the boots broke so that pretty annoying an inconvenient.

I live in Hawaii and go thru lots of ocean shtuff. I trust Mares. The quality is all there. This pair replaces my 4 year old pair. (I'm in the water 2-4 times a week.) For someone who is in the water less than 2 times a month, these should last until the cows come home. The zipper is titanic! The soles grip on wet algae covered rocks like theres no tomorrow- Lightweight and flexible. My only initial trepidation was fit, and I was right. I picked a size larger because my old Mares booties needed a size larger. Not these! Now I have a too large set of booties. I wear socks to avoid nasty blisters. Excellent quality.

Recently was stung by a sting ray so have a slight PTSD from it and these shoes really helped me get back out in the water, in reality I know these are not sting ray proof shoes, but they are really comforting to have when wading in the water when I fish, and they also do really good at protecting my feet from rocks, huge hermit crabs, and other hazards when wade fishing the ocean. I highly recommend for fishers, divers, surfers, or anyone who likes getting out in the water. I wear size 13 so I order a 12 and they fit perfect!

We use these booties for kayaking. Our beach is rocky and muddy. We lost many sandals while launching kayaks and scratched too many ankles on barnacles. These booties solved those problems and have keep our feet toasty in the waters around Puget Sound. They have allowed us to extend our kayak season. The sole is thick enough to offer protection from rocks, shells, and barnacles. They also offer some traction on our stone stairs. The ladies sizes seem to be a half size big, while the youth sizes seem to run about a half size small. I have had mine for over a year and they have held up great. I ordered some for my kids this year and they are happy with them as well.
