Product Description Review: It worked - and is worth it! - We cleaned up the sofa (vaccumed it) and then sprayed the scotch guard. Didn't know what to expect - we did it twice as suggested on the bottle. A single bottle - we were able to use for a 3 seater oversized recliner and there is still some left in the bottle. Best part - a few weeks later when my sons hand filled with pastel color (black) hit the the sofa - we were able to clean it up - as if it didn't exist. So - totally worth the money and effort. (Your finger will get tired of spraying the entire sofa) Review: Excellent product - Excellent product. I know Scotchguard well, as I am Australian and I have seen it around since year dot. I have used them on our sofa and armchairs. Definite buy to protect your furniture.

no issue with staining at all
Bought these after we moved and re-upholstered the chairs to my grandparents' dining room table. Wanted to protect them long term. So far, after a few month, we have had no issue with staining at all. So, it seems to be working great!

Paying For Protection: Scotchgard Fabric and Upholstery Protector
I have used Scotchgard Fabric and Upholstery Protector for over 2 decades on my fabrics and that has made them easier to keep clean. I have used this product mostly on coats, pillows and furniture. I will usually apply at least 2 thin coats of Scotchgard after cleaning my jackets or indoor fabrics. I found that it helps block most stains from permanently discoloring the fabric. I just plop the piece in the washer and the stain is usually gone. Reapply the Protector and I am good to go again. Obviously this product has its limitations especially with real greasy gritty oil; that comes from an automobile, for instance. Oil-based products seem to soak in to the fabric more than the Scotch- gard can protect. What I found was that with the Scotchgard it protected most of the fabric but there was a tell-tale sign of the substance left on the jacket. I have used this product on my wool, cotton and 'dry clean only' fabrics without any issues or any problems. As is suggested with any spray-on product first test a small portion of the fabric in an area not usually seen, that you wish to protect. I have not used it on silk as of yet. Light liquids spills have been repelled and provided me with an easy blotting cleanup. If something did appear to stain the fabric after cleanup it seemed to come out easily in the wash. I consider this product a light protectorate against most non-oily substances. Don't expect it to block all nasty substances that earth and man can throw at it. Yet, for most situations it works just terrific for me. If possible you should apply this product outside. The fumes can be overpowering when applying even to a small object. The smell can permeate two to three large rooms for up to an hour after application so be careful with application sites. Garages are a good source, or a room that can be closed off until the scent subsides but when possible there should be plenty of fresh air available. Because of the positive long term usage every year, for decades, of this product I gave it 5 stars. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are suggested usages as listed by manufacturer: 'Suit Jackets, Curtains, Shirts, Silk Ties, Fabric Sofas & Chairs, Dress & Pant Suits, Chair Cushions, Slip Covers, Caps, Blouses, Throw Pillows, and Table Linens.'
