I got this book for my 3 yr old as he is a Kipper fan and wanted a kipper book for Christmas, any kipper book. It turns out this is one of the smartest letter books around (he probably has half a dozen if not more); yes, a lot of the examples are the same but there is a story that creates a thread throughout the pages and engages the kid to participate. We read it before bed and he loves it.

I bought this book for my three-year-old daughter. She loves the show Kipper so I figured she would like this book. I find Kipper to be such of a sweet and innocent show that isn't loud and annoying like many other children's cartoons. I hoped the book would be nice too and I wasn't disappointed. This book covers the adventures of Kipper the dog and Arnold the pig. They seek out a critter for each letter of the alphabet, starting when Arnold finds an ant and puts it in his box. The story in itself is quite entertaining with bits of humor here and there. It is also educational because it teaches letters (and shows both uppercase and lowercase) as well as letter sounds. It doesn't merely show a critter that matches the letter (such as Aa is for ant) but it adds more words into the sentences that match the letter sounds (such as "six squishy slugs"). This book was quick to capture my daughter's attention and she had me read it to her twice in a row (non-stop), which is something she never does anymore. She tried to get me to read it to her a third time, but I told her we should read another book instead. Most alphabet books seem too short, but this one is the perfect length. The illustrations are very cute and closely resemble the show, including the use of limited illustration and lots of white space, which is something I have always loved about the show. I would probably recommend this book for children ages two to six. It's one of those books that I can read more than once without feeling dread at being asked to do so. Plus, it's a fun way to teach your child while bonding at the same time.

This book is a great introduction to the alphabet for little ones. Unlike many A to Z books that just run through the alphabet, this one has a bit of a story too as Kipper and Arnold work their way from A to Z. Great illustrations and lots of fun!
