Jill Tomlinson 7 Books Collection Set Titles in the Set The Penguin Who Wanted to Find Out, The Hen Who Wouldn't Give Up, The Otter Who Wanted to Know, The Gorilla Who Wanted to Grow Up, The Cat Who Wanted to Go Home, The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, The Aardvark Who Wasn't Sure Review: Nice books - Good book son finds the story funny Review: Sweet, innocent stories - 8 yr old boy loved these simple, sweet stories. Short and suitable for reading by themselves. Requested after reading 'The Owl who was afraid of the Dark' at school. My favourite was the one about the penguin. His favourite was the one about the cat. Nicely written and very innocent with comforting, reassuring themes for young kids. Makes a change from the, now ubiquitous, slightly too knowing humour, slapstick and frenetic stories doing the rounds in most children's literature currently.

Books
My daughter is already curious about all of them, so I would say is a good choice for a gift.

Great little read for children who love animals
I bought these as we had a focus on the author for a term at school. My children (year 3) thoroughly enjoyed sharing these around and discussing the different animals they came across. Lovely little books.

Interesting and enjoyable
My grand-daugher is loving reading these books - full of information about animals presented in lovely stories. The vocabulary is just at the right level for an eight year old.

Engaging characters and good life lessons too.
My daughter had already read The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark at school and absolutely loved it. With Summer fast approaching, I decided to buy her the set to read during the holidays. In The Owl, the characters are engaging and it is a useful life lesson about how you can get support from friends and family when you have fears and troubles. I look forward to having the rest of the books read to me over the summer.

Excellent characters, really struck a chord with my 6 year old daughter
These books are fab! My six year old loved hearing them. They have a lot of humour in and the characters are all lovely. I loved the Owl who was afraid of the dark when I was little, so it is a pleasure to rediscover how good this book is and to be introduced to the other animal characters.

Delivery and packaging.
I got double. I'm missing the Otter book. Waiting to hear back from prime books. One book is slightly damaged.

They don’t make em like these anymore
Great option if you’re looking for old school British tales for children. Wholesome stories, nuanced plots, impeccable grammar. Animal stories, pretty gender neutral. Also chapters are short enough to get through each within 10-12 minutes while reading out loud. 6 year old loves them.
