Easy practical with insightful content !
Very easy to read and practical guide to Feng Shui. My sister got this book from a friend and she shared it with me and I found it was very straightforward easy to follow . I like that she has a intuitive approach giving you ideas but letting you use your own sense of decorating style to achieve balance and harmony . I've only read one other book on the subject which tended to be more complicated and too much to read, so I lost interest . So far I can't say any miracles have happened however my sister has been trying to sell her house for quite some time and since applying some of these techniques she has already had several interested parties. One thing that is really significant about this book and sets it apart is that she really dives deeper into exploring what might be holding you back.emotional baggage is usually represented by material objects , taking a look at the stuff you're holding onto and how that can be hindering you can be extremely enlightening and freeing As I went through each section of the bagua it helps you unclutter and really take a look at your space and some of the junk that we carry around with us that may or may not be affecting our mental and emotional well being and growth. The house I live in is a semi circular shaped home so I'm concentrating on the rooms that I spend the most time in like with any metaphysical practice I think it's mostly focus. focusing your intent and giving the areas of your life that need improvement attention if you're going to read one book on feng shui this is where I would start .

A fun book that helped a lot
This book helped me to see the "Big Picture," or at least significant parts of it, regarding the home I live in, its location, and the arrangement of furnishings within it. There were some big issues that I simply didn't realize were there until I read this book. For instance, I have always felt uneasy when I even looked at houses that were below street level, and I realized with a shock that my present dwelling is below street level; not a whole lot, which is why I did not realize it, but that factor is still present. There are other, similar factors which I had not thought of in terms of feng shui, which I have also realized are present and have begun to attempt to correct. I found that there was a tremendous increase in my energy just in the first few days of working with this book. There is something I want to address about the fact that some people believe that feng shui is a dark practice that will take one away from God. When we are young, we are taught not to put water in a bucket that has a hole in it, because all the water will drain out. We are taught to use a secure, strong vessel to contain a liquid that we want to carry from one place to another, or to keep in one place. The fact that "chi" is invisible does not mean that it is not real. Our bodies, and our homes and locations are all vessels of chi, and no one really tells us, normally, how to conserve and contain that energy that is life-giving, restoring, and sustaining. I believe that it is helpful to know at least some of the ways to contain personal energy, home energy, and location energy. My view, which could always be wrong, of course, is that the Source of our life will lead us to greater life if we will allow it. I feel this book was a gift from that Infinite Source to me. There have been several shifts that have significantly lowered my anxiety since I read this book and used some of the suggestions. For instance, I took a rather drastic step of moving my sofa away from a window that my back was toward to a location that I didn't like as much, where my back could be to the wall. I feel SO much better with the new arrangement, even though I don't feel the new arrangement looks as nice. I have realized that I much prefer the new location for the sofa, though, particularly during bad weather. One principle of feng shui is that low-level negative emotions that are incubated for a long, long time sort of spread out and take over your life, creating similar situations that also bring uneasiness. Feeling uneasy because your back is to a west-facing window, the direction that most storms come from, and spending a good bit of your time in that position, could easily influence other parts of your life, in my view. I'm really glad reading the book nudged me to take the step of changing that situation. Similarly, creating situations in your life that generate positive emotions and energy should help to generate more positive situations. Five stars. Looking forward to brighter days.

Good first book on Feng Shui
This book provide a good overview of basics of Feng Shui. Well written, author being a native english speaker language flow is appealing. However, before you start doing anything serious with Feng Shui lot more reading and knowledge is requried. Also like most western practioners author has taken the liberty to ignore some of the very important formulas in Feng shui. As an example, this entire book is written with assumption that front door is at the north and left back corner is the Propserity. However, no where in the book it says the fact that left back corner is not always the prosperity corner. It is the South East corner that is the prosperity corner. Also things are not that simple, to make anything meaningful one need to consider 8 mansion formula at minimum. Which is completly ignored in the book. Flying star Feng shui is also not discussed. Flying star is an advance Feng Shui. Book should at least consider 8 mansion, without that any cure you do can invite disaster by activating some unlucky stars. I have given 4 stars because its style. Technical accuracy may be 2 stars. It is important to note that Feng Shui is a dangerous subject to attempt without knowing the details. What is in this book is good to read but please consult a professional or read more before trying out. e.g. People say clear your clutter. Which is in general true. But you do not want to go out and disturb 3 shas by cleaning wrong parts of your house during the wrong time. You do not want put a wate fountain on wrong (yellow stem) direction

Simplified Feng Shui that works
Feng Shui literally means "wind and water", and it is an ancient Chinese culture/ school (whatever you want to call it) that is followed to bring peace, balance and harmony to your life and home. Feng Shui is NEVER meant to substitute hard work, efforts, intelligence and honesty. It is supposed to supplement it. Most importantly, you need to HAVE FAITH, have RIGHT (GOOD) INTENTIONS, and do your due diligence (in following the book and keeping up with your real life efforts) before even opening this book. Without these three, there will be no results. Trying to summarize some key points here to give you an idea what to expect. 1. Is it OVERLY SIMPLE? Yes. Does that mean it is "shallow"? NO! 2. Does this book tell you about bringing in some talisman/ charm in your home to change your luck? NO. Does this help you create a harmonious, balanced living space? YES. 3. Does this book suggests a lot of purchasing? Not a lot, some. It has many solutions/ alternatives for not having something specific. 4. Does this work? YES. In our experience this book did work and in a matter of less than few months. Don't expect the book to turn your life around in matter of hours (some examples in there suggest it). Things WILL change, but not like a magic wand. I believe the intentions are to make you aware of what changes you need in your life and keeping you motivated and focused towards achieving those goals. As long as you stay on track with your efforts, this book will help you harness the universal energy (Chi) to fulfill your dreams. CAUTION: Please do not start changing things around (especially, DO NOT BUY STUFF as enhancements), until you fully understand the concept, the symbolism, the Yin-and-Yang (balance). It is simple, but there is a lot of it, and misinterpreting things is common. We first misidentified one of the guas and were perking it up all wrong. Eventually we did get it right and then it worked. You can start with the section you need utmost help with (money, love, family, etc.), but remember to create a balanced living space eventually, with all of the 9 sections balancing each other. Without that balance, things may not work as they should. We read and re-read the book and discovered how much we missed out when we first read and also how much did we misinterpret. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Karen is funny, witty, and very relatable. She does bring Feng Shui to her readers as a fun, light read rather than taking a serious tone. Some don't like it, but the way I see is Feng Shui is complex, and the deeper you delve, the more there is to find, which only adds to confusion. This simplified version is much better to follow (and it works!). I personally like fun way of teaching, helping people remember well. Lastly, if you do not like to keep your home clean, stay away from this book. The cardinal rule of Feng Shui is to have a clean, clutter free house (getting rid of literal, figurative and emotional clutter). It will be a herculean task (depending upon the state of your home), but it's awesome at the end. You will be amazed how many of the things we have in our home that are 'dead energy' and are actually holding us back. Feng Shui is all about this cleanse!

Best Feng Shui Book I've Read!
"Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life" is the best feng shui booked I've read to date. Most books on this topic are bland and difficult to get through, but "Move Your Stuff..." is easy to read and understand, and includes some humor as well. This book will take you on a journey of sorts, looking inside yourself to determine what areas of your life either are, or are not, working for you - so you know which areas of your home to focus on first. It also gives a great explanation of feng shui and the various "bagua" components (like prosperity, family, career, creativity and children, helpful people and more). It also provides great feng shui "cures" for all sorts of potential problems, using things that you can easily purchase (or may already have in the home). This book uses the "Black Hat" approach to feng shui (apparently there are a few different types of feng shui out there). I will be reading about the American Syle next so that I can see how they differ (when I review that book, I'll explain any differences between the two feng shui styles). Overall, I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in feng shui'ing their home - however, I would suggest taking notes, as there's a lot of information packed in these pages!

Such a great book and the author is really funny
I"m a newbie to Feng Shui, but am seeing lots of great results. Started off by tying red ribbon around all the outgoing plumbing I could do easily under sinks. Close bath Room door now to not flush away the energy. Started working on my prosperity corner last week and got a few things and moved some stuff around... Thursday night I was reading my book in bed and looked over to the alcove like area just beyond my closet that just happens to be "Creativity" which is opposite Prosperity.. hmmmmm... So, I dusted off my 3 tier table and removed the stuff on underneath. Metals good for this section and gray ( which is my room color, very pale grey).. so I put my jewelry display on there because it's metal. Liked the feel of that so I put my white buffalo with St. Francis Rosary beads acrros it. Found out silvers good so I lined a black and silver star pretty box I had with Reynolds wrap... Put my wishes in there... had two that night. One was everyone loves me jewelry and pays me in a timely manner. Tied a red ribbon called it a night. The next morning.. got coffee and lady who worked there and admired my ring asked if I'd make 3 for her for friennds ( xmas shops early!).. got to work and promptly won the 50/50 (1.00 in only).. went up to work and one of the guys who owed me jewelry money gave it to me.. then at lunch time a lady who got a few pieces just before Mothers day paid me.. then another fellow paid me his money!!!! Friday night I added that someone help me with getting $$ for my son's used car he is tring to get for school ( single mom here) .. went to moms Saturday & she told me in conversation she is refinancing and wants to give me some money to help me out... Well..... I am looking to work on my relationships/love area. Went to get coffee ( Sunday now) and then went to this permanet garage sale behind the grocery store to see if he might have something interesting... Got a beautiful ceramic St. Francis of Assisi picture with little birds flying around him for my wall and a lovely inexpensive picture of two pink roses talking about loving relationships... Even spoke with a woman who was really nice and knew a mutual friend... Bought a ring and may come to one of my upcoming classes for next week.... ( helpful people) I think this really works.... If not, then just believing it really helps... But the first part where 3 ppl who owed me cash, a $$ win and a request for jewelery seems a bit far fetched... This lady make reading her book fun. Trying not to read too quickly so really absorb it and I hope you enjoy this just as much as I have.. Blessings! Susan
