Update #2: 2 years, he still pets some, but not like before where it was constant. That is also diminishing. I have found the occasional small knot of hair on the floor (like one every 3 months), where I think he was super stressed and rubbed his hair between two fingers until it knotted and fell out, but it doesn't happen enough to be a concern. He loses more hair when he uses his brush. Update #3: 4 years and he no longer pets his hair. I haven't seen knotted bits or anything. Now he's a vain peacock when it comes to his hair, primping in front of the mirror and combing it just right.

I initially bought it for another health issue, but have found some interesting side benefits. For the past 15 years I have not slept more than 5 1/2 - 7 hours per night no matter I hard I try to sleep longer, but taking NAC I find my sleep can extend into more time. This tells me my body is needing more sleep to repair itself. Growing up I enjoyed 8 hours but getting older seems to either require less or rather my body is not rebuilding as much as when I was younger. Also, my wife has always had trouble getting to sleep, but she takes 1 pill at night and it has made all the difference for her. Another side benefit is mental lucidity. I have to admit the first 4-5 days of taking NAC I literally had a brain fog especially in the morning. I attribute this to the detoxification of NAC pushing out the bad chemicals from my body. However, now my recall and alertness is better even though it was not really too bad I have notice a sharper mind function. Although I have noticed some improvement in nasal congestion, it is more subtle to me but it did help stop my wife's coughing within 2 days which she had symptoms for the entire previous week and it would not go away. I take 600-1200 mg daily without food to get it functioning quickly and have had no stomach problems taking it this way. Being 205 pounds the 1200 mg maybe the better dosage for me. My wife takes 600 mg at night only.

My ophthalmologist recommended this combined with vitamin A and omega oils daily for dry eye to promote tear production. Bee. Using for about a week & starting to notice a difference especially when wearing my contacts.
