KRUPS FDK112 Sandwich Maker, Matte Black

My wife and I originally had a maker from Cuisinart. A few weeks later the thermostat quit working. customer service treated me like a criminal. I threw it in the bin, got on Amazon and picked this one up after reading some reviews. It's great. Larger than the previous one, great surface that cleans easily. This is a good. one.

Heats up unevenly. Half my sandwich is golden brown and the other half is barely toasted. What a waste of money. I would have been better off finding an older one at Goodwill.

This is just your basic sandwich maker. The rivet in the middle cuts the sandwich in half, which is both good & bad. Good for the kids since they get an pre-cut sandwich, but bad because our bread slices are just a little too big for the maker (which, I think is sized for wonder bread sizes). It does the job and is not real hard to figure out, so no complaints there.I bought this sandwich maker at a huge, huge discount, so when the front closure broke off, I didn't see a lot of money down the drain. The machine still works, but you have to hold the top down manually. Hubby thinks he can superglue the piece back on, but hasn't done it yet. The machine lasted over about 1-1/2 years before breaking.

We have been using sandwich makers for many years. This is our third unit in many years. Although they all work well, Krups FDK112 has made the unit much more stable and safe to operate. Old units made by other manufacturers, were unsafe to operate (problems like finger burning, tipping over when closing the lid etc.) This unit is also easy to clean after use. We bought additional unit for our daughter for Christmas. This is a great sandwich maker for quick snack or picnics.

I was going to get the one they advertised on tv, but I'm glad I didn't. This one is far better and very sturdy. Very easy cleanup too.

I ordered this sandwich maker from Amazon.com after visiting a family member who owned a different brand. While the sandwiches in her machine tasted great, they were hard to remove from the machine and had to be cut with a knife while still on the metal plate of the machine. It also took five or six minutes for 2 sandwiches to toast.The Krups has NONE of these problems. It looks great (black, sleek) is super easy to use, and browns the bread perfectly. If you wipe the plates lightly with oil or spray with cooking spray you won't have any problem with food sticking, either.I've also found that you can use lots of different kinds of bread--it works with English muffins (make a breakfast sandwich of scrambled eggs and cheese!), pita bread, thick-crust bread, and traditional sliced bread. The Krups Sandwich Maker does a nice job of sealing the edges without squashing the whole sandwich. I'm sold on it!
