I'm replacing an axis p1427-le that worked fine for catching license plate with slow moving traffic and was wondering if this would be a good upgrade?

P1455-LE is the top of the line suggested replacement for P1427 series; however please check recommended replacement product data sheet for full specification. P1455-LE includes forensic WDR, lightfinder technology and does 60 fps which is key for moving objects/license plate recognition applications.

Am i able to use this without a nas? would like to use it with an sd card and software to monitor. thanks in advance

Yes, you do not need Nas. You only need need install axis companion software to see the video.

You could use a single port PoE injector per camera or a midspan or PoE switch with multiple ports and power several cameras from one device.

Is this ready to plug into my surveillance nas, or do i need to purchase additional accessories?

It depends on the NAS. It needs PoE and a compatible NAS. Then using Axis Camera Companion (free) you can connect it to your NAS. Don't forget the PoE adaptor.

Great picture

These are a go to for me when a high quality picture is needed. Functions very well and has a wide field of view. The colors are natural and when combined with the camera station the setup is easy. And, unlike a ptz, this camera is always looking where necessary.

Good Quality, Easy Installation, User Friendly

Have used and installed many different surveillance cameras and systems. This is my favorite so far, very easy to install the base and template make for a very clean installation without using any additional boxes or hardware. The companion viewing software is very easy to use and was much easier than I thought it would be to set up, did not require any port forwarding etc in the router for remote viewing even with firewall enabled. Can add different user roles for multiple people to log in view only, make changes, etc.
