I'm getting this as a gift for a buddy craftman. can this kma2700 accu-cut also do the same type of cutting as the kreg kma2685 rip-cut?

Nevermind the other moronic answers. These guides each have their own distinctive purpose. One is for ‘rip’ (length-with grain) cuts and can only be used to cut strips using an existing straight edge of the sheet you’re cutting (ripping). The 2700 is for cutting any which way freely and for making your own straight guide without a reference. In other words, if you have a jagged edge on a sheet, you can use it to make a clean straight cut and then use it as a reference on a table saw. Ironically, they both (2700/2685) use the same base, so you can easily switch from one to the other.

Does this require a special circular saw?

It will work with many, but not all circular saws.

Does this attach to the wood somehow to keep the track from sliding?

No. It has sticky strips on the bottom that keep it from sliding. It would be hard to attach this to the wood since your saw has to slide over the top of the track. But this track works very well. I love it.

Does this work with a ryobi 5-1/2” p505 ??

Yes it does fit the Ryobi P505. The max depth that you can cut with the 505 is ¾" material.
