何といっても挿絵が素晴らしい。 本当に赤茶けた色をした洞窟にいるような気すらしてきます。 大人のやり直し英語や中学３年生、英語が苦手な高校１年生にお勧めです。 中３にお勧めする理由は、高校に入ってから本格的に習う世界史の予習的な意味で。 英語が苦手な高１は、基礎知識のある事柄で読みやすいと思うので。 大人のやり直し英語の場合、簡単な本というとどうしても「おはなし」といった風情の本が多くて、もっと知的好奇心をくすぐられる本を！と思うことも多いですが、この本はちょうど良いのではないでしょうか。

A lovely book for my daughter who was attending a course on prehistoric life and used in conjunction with our visits to several local sites with cave paintings or prehistoric remains. The story and text are simple, the pictures are lovely and although it's written as a story, there are enough facts in order to learn from it.

My five year old daughter loves these 'real' stories which act as a great introduction to historical concepts. I read them to her at bedtime, and there follows much discussion and real learning. She has come to love them so much that she often reads them to herself at other times.

Very interesting book for a seven years old.

This book is basically a summary of how the world-famous paintings at Lauscaux were discovered. It then shows a recreation of how the paintings were made. It has a surprise ending, which you can read about more in an issue of National Geographic. I would recommend this book for anyone with a kid who loves Step-Into-Reading, as well as prehistory.
