A beautifully packaged and updated edition of the #1 New York Times bestselling book celebrating a decade of timeless wisdom, with new content from Oprah What do you know for sure? This is the question that guided Oprah Winfrey’s long-running magazine column, where she reflected on her life and shared insights with millions of readers. It was a question, she said, that offered her a way to “take stock of her life" in pivotal moments. Over the years, there have been many such opportunities, such as when she retired The Oprah Winfrey Show , launched her own television network, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and celebrated milestone birthdays. These essays offer a rare and profound glimpse into the mind of one of the world's most extraordinary women. Now, for the first time, this powerful collection has been updated with new material and stories reflecting Oprah’s seven decades of lived experience. Candid, inspiring, and dynamic, the words Oprah shares in What I Know For Sure shimmer with the sort of wisdom and truth that readers will turn to, and share, again and again. Review: Read slowly and often - so much wisdom! - Oprah has been one of my heroes since I was a kid (especially after finding out we are the same ENFJ personality type). I always admired her ability to listen and connect with someone and I see that intimacy in each of her interviews even today. This book is a compilation of a column out of the O magazine, called What I Know for Sure. I am sure that it is a great column in the magazine but I can tell you it's better as a collection. My only regret about reading this is that I read it too fast. Most chapters are worth absorbing again because of how thought provoking and profound they are. Oprah manages to always be insightful and instructive by way of her candid openness that prevents her from coming across as preachy or audacious even though she is very spiritual. I needed a lot of her positive energy about the general good that exists (found in the little things) and that how we are all in this together, and there is no "us vs. them." In some ways this book honors its back cover and is very much a fire lighter but at the same time convinces the reader to take time to heal - to aim - before firing the arrow. Review: this book confirms every thing I believe - it's a guiding light that I am on the right path in life - I will recommend this book to everyone in my life. I will purchase this book for all the women in my life. I gave this book review 5 stars because it touched on every major point in my life the very belief I held in my heart that took me to the other side of the challenges this book confirmed my heart was on the right path. At all times-during those situations I looked within for the answers and my heart has never failed to protect me. Oprah inspires me to continue on my path and step it up a notch or more. At 53 I removed myself from a 13 year relationship and struggled with at my age a chance to love again is over. Today is six months since I asked him to leave. I now know without a doubt my life is just getting started. This was the perfect book to read and inspire me to continue on with all that I am. I do know this that we are not here to be loved it is to love others - along the way if love finds us as it will, it's a bonus. I realized when I left the love for myself was greater than that dysfunctional relationship. I wake up each day in wonder and an open heart because that is just who I am and I love every fiber of me. Thank you Oprah for the confirmation that my path is mine to create and if a situation doesn't align with all that I am it's ok to walk away.

Find your own lesson and motto with this book. Do not hesitate, this book wont bite) Hugs only.
With this book, you better have a pencil nearby! I absolutely love the way Oprah Winfrey tells things, sharing her life lessons and decisions. Those were the things I needed while struggling with some life choices and thoughts about my future... So if you got the same position when you think you might fall at any minute.. go grab a copy for yourself (or even an audio one, which may be cheaper) and enjoy the Oprah experience, learn from it, try something new, and live life anew, learn, laugh, think... Now, I KNOW FOR SURE that I will read this book repeatedly!

It was an easy read and it caused me to think about what ...
This was our book club book. It was an easy read and it caused me to think about what I absolutely knew for sure, which wasn't an easy question for me to answer. I was impressed with how spriritual Oprah is and how she relates to her environment and the impact of her surroundings on her life. I really enjoyed the book and I often think about the issues she raised in her book.

Listening to this book is WORTH EVERY PENNY and more...
So maybe many of these stories you had heard before if you're a fan of Oprah... but what a joy it is to have it all in one compact place. Much of what she has to say is worth repeating. She ties in her personal experiences with life lessons in a way that is relatable - even though you may have very little in common with Oprah. She pulls out quotes that hit home and help us to make sense of the world from a perspective we maybe never considered before. Listening to this book as opposed to reading it is also quite helpful. I can be on the road or cooking in my kitchen and take in the stories and lessons as I work instead of setting aside reading time (which isn't always easy). I am so thankful that Oprah did the voice over for this book... it is such a joy to hear her relish in the details - adding her own cadence, emphasis, and emotion. I could probably "hear" her voice in my head if I read the words off of the page, but it is so much better to truly hear it from her directly. This audio CD is worth every penny. I need these clever bits of wisdom to ground me and motivate me. I'll be listening to these CDs over and over for many days and many years to come. Thank you Oprah - for doing what you do and for always trying to not only better yourself, but help us to all better ourselves as well.

An uplifting read
My step-mom lent me this book. I wasn't interested in reading it but she really wanted me to so I gave it a try. It's a very uplifting book! I read a bit each morning and it was a great way to start my day. Oprah shares what she has learned through her experiences without being pretentious or sounding like a know-it-all. I have recommended this book to so many people! I bought it as a gift for my daughter as well. I can't wait for her to read it!

I know for sure that I enjoyed this book
Having not watched very many episodes of the Oprah show and not having read the “O” magazine more than a few times I wasn’t too sure what to expect from Oprah’s latest book, “What I know for Sure”; however, being interested in this genre I thought I would give this book a try and see what insights I could glean from within. Perhaps those that are more familiar with Oprah’s life, or her writing style, would expect the first pages to be written as they were - very much like a, “Day in the life of…” - and this led me to think that “What I know for Sure” was just going to be a tale of slumber parties and somber moments. Thankfully I read on though because there are some very interesting and insightful thoughts shared on the later pages. Oprah openly shares some of the major challenges she has faced, some of the wonderful people she has met on the journey and the some of the inner ‘A-ha’ moments – the real gift that this book provides to the reader. While I understand that some readers will enjoy hearing about the other people in Oprah’s life, Oprah’s introspective moments are what resonate with me. During these times of introspection and discovery Oprah comes face to face with universal truths that include: how our challenges often create our best opportunities, ‘Anything can be a miracle, a blessing, an opportunity if you choose to see it that way’; the importance of gratitude, ‘Gratitude can transform any situation. It alters your vibration, moving you from negative energy to positive’; the power of choice, ‘Right now, no matter where you are, you are a single choice away from a new beginning’; the need to love who we are, ‘Look inward-the loving begins with you’ and many more philosophical maxims that are relevant to all of us. Oprah’s book reminds us that regardless of where we were born and no matter what road we travelled to arrive at our current place in life, it is all part of the human condition. The challenges we have faced can’t be undone, yet we have the power to change our perceptions of the past and we have the ability to create a future in line with our desires. It seems that Oprah’s life, a life of one of the most recognized and successful personalities in her profession, is shared in this book to show the reader that no matter who we are, our struggles aren’t unique and WE ALL have the power to make positive changes.

Item appeared used and damaged
Very disappointed, this is my third time ordering this product as a gift as I think it is such a wonderful book. Item appeared used, damaged front cover and foil missing. Pages had been bent and crumpled. Was due to give as a present on same day as delivery and left empty handed as I could not give it as a gift. Packaging was perfect, item was not.
