An Awesome Gift Idea! Practical Too!!!
So got this as a gift for my father. And I have to say, I was not disappointed. Its a cool and fun little idea. And a great novelty gift that doubles as a practical pen. Its a bit pricey but the no one is buying this for the luxury pen. You are buying this because of the coolness and wow factor. The entire pen is made of metal, and is pretty sturdy and can be easily used for normal writing. so that's obviously a plus. The tray or base is solid and pretty heavy actually. You want a luxury pen? There are bunch of other options. You want a luxury pen that stands and rotates on a magnetic stand? This is the item for you.

A novel desktop toy
The pen is quite nice. The magnetic base is quite heavy. It is easy to stand the pen upright. No balancing act to do.

Cool pen, no ink
Really cool idea but the pen itself ran out of ink within the first 15 minutes of using it

Heavy on the novelty, light on the functionality
I work as a supervisor and I sit at my desk for eight hours per day, like most white collar workers. Eight hours with very little physical exertion will transform any environment into a monotonous bore but especially an office. This, we'll call it, "office enigma", prompted my search for a novelty desk item and a few days of searching later, I came across magnetic pens. I liked the idea of a magnetic pen as it didn't appear overly distracting and it seemed interesting enough for me to orient my attention to when I wanted to take a mental micro-break from my work. As a moderately frugal consumer, I settled on this pen as it was on the lower end of the cost-spectrum but seemed to function as the others. After owning and using this pen for two weeks I feel that I can provide an accurate subjective review of my experience. I purchased the magnetic-cap model and for preference sake, I'll list the cons first: 1. The design on the top-side of the base is a thick plastic film and can be peeled off. I peeled mine off because I wanted a more uniform aesthetic but beware as the silver coating can wear off with use (see attached photo). 2. The function of the pen is mid. The quality of notation that you get with this pen is about that of a Bic Round Stic, one of the most common plastic pens available. You won't be disappointed per se, but you certainly won't be impressed either. Those are the only negative aspects of my user-experience with this pen, the pros are as follows: 1. The pen is heavier than most but not so heavy that writing fatigues your hands/fingers. It's just heavy enough to feel like you're holding a quality-made pen. 2. I'd recommend purchasing the magnetic snapping cap model. I've used plastic office pens for most of my professional life so being that "popping-off" the cap of a pen is muscle memory for me, that decision made the transition to this pen, seamless. 3. The stylus is very nice and visually pleasing. It was nice to discover that the magnetic component of this pen wasn't the only novelty element incorporated into the design. 4. One of my favorite interactions with this pen is the sway/rocking-effect it has when the pen is pushed. The magnetic connection is surprisingly strong and as the video shows, the pen cap is also magnetic, making it that much harder to lose, which for me, is important. 5. Ergonomic design was a selling point for me as this pen would be a "daily driver" of sorts. In my opinion, the pen is much more comfortable to hold than you'd expect when only viewing the pictures. As mentioned above, I wanted a desk ornament that wasn't too distracting but was entertaining and novel enough for me to marvel at for short periods of time. This pen accomplished just that. For $50 I would've liked a pen that function similarly to the BIC Gelocity pens but I'm able to remain a satisfied buyer as the pros far outweigh the cons. I hope this review aids in your decision to or not-to buy this pen.

Bought for a family member for Christmas who really liked it as they work outside their office frequently and this is unobtrusive

After a replacement, still works-ish
cool idea, but even after a replacement, the product I got is not even close to the other reviews. It doesn't stay up, only at an angle, knocks out pretty easily, and you can't really fidget with it without it falling to the base.
