I bought this HD to go along with my mac mini. I love that its USB C so I know that I would get faster read and write speeds. I plugged it in and it worked awesome and Time Machine was a breeze. I dont even hear them. The only way I know they are working is because of the LED light. I also love the design and color. I feel they wanted to match Apple colors which was another reason I got these. Actually I got 2 of them. And they both work flawless. I have them hidden and double sided taped on my wall. They are always in use. I use one for my backups and one for my Photo Editing. Great product. Im thinking of buying another soon for my MacBook air. I highly recommend to anyone.

I have purchased all of my hard drives from Amazon, but I had not purchased a new one for at least a couple of years. When I did my new Mac Mini set up, I decided to purchase a 2 TB hard drive to add to it. When it arrived, I thought something was wrong. Surely they had given me the wrong size! The photo shows the new drive next to the 256 GB LaCie Rugged that I purchased about five or six years ago – which still works on my old computer by the way – and I was blown away by the difference in size. It connected easily to my new Mini, and the computer saw it right away. I was able to partition it with no problem and it has proven, so far at least, to be quite a workhorse and incredibly fast. I am always amazed at the speed of the evolution of technology, and this is definitely no exception. Recommended.

I had an older, powered external drive from the same company that failed after 3.5 years. Since I’d had good luck with some other USB non-powered drives I thought I’d give this a try. Initially my iMac recognized the drive immediately. I file share with my Mac Mini (which serves as my dedicated music server) and when I plugged the drive into my Mac Mini it failed to mount on my desktop. Back to the iMac, same problem! I had to restart the computer and then it mounted on the desktop. Off to the Home Theater room and bingo! I don’t know why it was so problematic for both Macs to recognize the drive properly but now, after 3 days of use it seems to work fine as my dedicated drive to hold all of my music files. It’s quiet, sleek and matches my Mac Mini!

I needed to back up my Mac computer. I had TONS of photos that were taking up too much space on my hard drive. I bought this back up drive last year and backed up an old computer. I ordered a second one last week to back up my current computer. It's fast and can store a lot of pix. Love it!

It’s a good product

I was so intimidated by having to buy an external hard drive, bc I'm not a tech savvy person, but my computer is getting old so I figured it was time. After some researching and reading lots of reviews I decided on the "G". This was super easy to install for an amateur with my mac book pro and It's small (approx. 3.5x4.5 inches) and very lightweight so thats a plus. I would say it's delicate but I would assume that about all of them. Wouldn't want to throw any of them around so I don't see the need for a rugged type hard drive, but to each their own. So far, Im very happy with my purchase. I'm not worried about how long it takes to back up, as I leave it plugged in all the time.

I usually don't like negative comments, nor do I like giving negative comments. I'm a youtuber and plan on putting important videos and information on this drive. Received the item. First impression is the box and feel of the drive feels like something you would buy at five below First plug in the drive reads "3gb" not TB. (I ordered the 4tb one) I then go through the process to format the drive (for windows you will have to format using there formatter) In the process to format to see if it solves the inital issue, it crashes my computer and makes it go into a blue screen The drive after that was not readable via USB-C to USB-C HOWEVER for some reason it was readable via regular usb to USB-C Clearly this device was defective from the begining. Build quaility is horrible (feels cheap) its very loud the price is cheap (now i know why) the drive isnt something I would "trust" with data I will update with a recommended hard drive once I find one that fits my needs untill then I wouldn't consider buying this drive AT ALL, Like I said I usually dont read or listen to negitive comments because people are usually a bit harsh with them. But im very knowledgable in tech and memory and data. This is the worst Hard drive ive ever had. good luck!

Disque dur externe conçu pour Mac. Je l'ai acheté pour mes sauvegardes Time Machine. Au premier branchement, il est reconnu instantanément (Mac OS Big Sur) et Time Machine a déjà préconfiguré le mode de sauvegarde (qu'il est toujours possible de changer). Ce disque dur est remarquablement silencieux, prend peu de place, et c'est un bonheur de savoir que les sauvegardes sont faites sans avoir à s'en préoccuper. Sur mon précédent Mac, j'utilisais un Toshiba Canvio Basics pour les sauvegardes externes Time Machine. Il m'a lâché après à peine plus d'un an. Un peu échaudé, j'ai pris cette fois l'extension de garantie sur celui-ci.

I’ve used their drives before and they work fine. But this does not work with the new m1 Max MacBook’s. It just keeps flashing and does not get recognized by the computer. It works fine on older Mac.

Very light and compatible with my mac.. no need to reformat
