Chord Approach
I use this book to teach students, both adults and younger. It moves the students through fairly quickly, but it doesn't leave any essentials out. I love the emphasis on chords, and my students are able to enjoy playing from the easy fake books pretty soon in their development. Alfred Publishing also has some excellent supplemental books to add to their experience.

Love
This book is perfect. Explains each piece to you. Folds back to be able to see the notes. Not too easy or hard. I can't wait till i get book 3.

Great for someone who's familiar with music
I think I can give a unique perspective on this book. I am a lifelong musician, played in orchestra through college and played several band instruments along the way as well. Saying in semi-professional choirs my whole life! the one thing I never did growing up was take piano lessons. We bought a nice upright piano as a family Christmas present last year, and I wanted to start teaching myself. I actually have a music ad minor and music theory was one of my favorite classes. this book does a really good job of breaking things down and most of the songs are very enjoyable to play. I love opening it up every once a while and sitting down and playing through some of the pieces. I think one of the best things about this is that beginner piano books can make the music sound extremely boring and simple but this has just enough chord excitement to make it sound enjoyable! Hahaha. Would highly recommend

Highly recommended, especially in combination with instruction available on YouTube
I took beginning piano lessons as an adult for about 5 years over 15 years ago. I never had much time to practice and so never got very good. After I stopped taking lessons I would try playing piano every now and then but since I never got very good at sight reading I had a difficult time and would give up quickly. I would go months at a time without playing anything. A couple of years ago I wanted to see if I could learn Pachelbel's Canon in D, and in searching for sheet music I found out that it was the last piece in book #2 of the Alfred's adult beginner series. I bought the series and decided that I needed to start from the beginning and go through it systematically. I'm so happy I did. Piano has become fun again, and I feel like I'm really learning a lot. I practice almost every day. After not quite 2 years, I'm still only 1/2 way through book #2 because I want to play each piece solidly before moving on (and so still haven't made it to Pachelbel), but I'm having fun learning other genres of music and becoming much better at sight reading. I found a really good instructional channel on YouTube, "Lets play piano methods" that has all the pieces from the Alfred's series along with very helpful instruction for each song.

Nice continuation
This is volume two and follows the beginners book. It's a nice graduation of pieces from very easy and up until they full first year of learning, the piano, or going back to the Piano after many years. The paper is heavy enough so that you cannot see through to the other side and the print is dark and easy to read.
