Maped Clean 2 Hole Pencil Sharpener, Assorted Colors (030249)

This is great! I had purchased a few little sharpeners for my son because I didn't want to get an electric one but they all had the same issue...they fit together loosely and the shavings were getting everywhere! This one is cute, easy to use (has a little slip cover that you pull back and then you can see the two holes, one for little kid pencils that are fat, and one for the regular size holes) and it fits snugly meaning NO shavings in my living room!) Perfect! Perfect! Perfect! :) Will definitely buy again if this one gets lost!

I work in publishing, which often requires marking up manuscripts with colored pencils. Despite this necessity, the only pencil sharpeners in my office are those super-basic, open-ended ones that shower shavings all over your desk. I was getting exhausted with having to sharpen over a trashcan (and inevitably breathing in the errant shavings that still somehow found their way out), so I coughed up $3.99 and ordered one of these handy little Maped Clean Shapreners. I love that I no longer have to worry about the shavings getting into my keyboard or all over my clothes, and the sharpener does a good job of shaping up pencils without breaking the lead. Definitely a worthwhile $3!

I was a little surprised by the small size of this sharpener, but that's ok. The small size makes it very convenient, and it does the job. The container at the bottom catches all the shavings, so there's no fuss, and the container empties and reassembles easily.

This is the second of this same kind of sharpener I have purchased. It truly does not disappoint! I love that it closes so the shavings do not come out! You get a random color, but I like all three, so I did not mind. I got blue. It’s very cute! Works very well for my colored pencils. Highly recommend!

After searching several stores for a 2-hole pencil sharpener and coming up empty handed, I decided to search here. This one got some great reviews so I was pretty excited even with the $7 price tag. We desperately needed a 2-hole one for my kids' larger colored pencils. After a few weeks of use: I absolutely hate this sharpener!!!! It constantly breaks the lead. You will finally get it to a point only to write with it and the lead falls out/breaks or sometimes you can't even get it out of the sharpener without the lead just falling out. At first, I thought it was due to a particular pencil brand until I tried it on every brand of pencil we have and it does this with every single one. What a waste of pencils when you think about having to sharpen a single one at least 3 times before you get a point you can actually write with and it not break. I have many other sharpeners, much cheaper than this one, and have never had this problem with any of them. I'm not a novice pencil sharpener either. I like to draw and color with my favorite medium - pencils. So I've probably sharpened double, if not triple, the number of pencils as the average person. I find pencil sharpening to be pretty relaxing, but I'm not a fan of waste, whether it be time or resources, and re-sharpening the same pencil over and over again is just ridiculous. The shape of it actually hinders sharpening a bit - It hardly holds enough for one new pencil being sharpened and you can't see how much you've sharpened already because the shavings completely cover where you should be able to see. I have many other 1-hole sharpeners with a different shape that I never have this problem with. The door....Oh, the door....I don't know why I originally thought this would be neat or a good idea. It's awful! It gets in the way. You have to hold it open or it wants to collapse down onto the pencil you're sharpening and with pretty significant force too. I wondered if this was the reason the pencil lead was breaking, however after holding it up for a bunch of pencils being sharpened, it didn't seem to make a difference. It's just an annoying and unnecessary feature. It's really irritating to have to open the spring-loaded door and hold it open to get the pencils in. I'm assuming it's an added safety feature for young kids, but it's small enough for it to be a safety hazard around young kids anyway and with the easy to pull apart shavings compartment, what's the difference? The sharpener itself really doesn't seem that sharp either as it takes more force to get it to sharpen the pencil than others I have. This could be why the lead continually breaks. My 6 year old has tried to use this sharpener and could not do it. She has had no problems with other sharpeners, but she just can't sharpen pencils on her own with this one. I would not recommend this. Look elsewhere for a user-friendly 2 hole pencil sharpener. If I find one I like, I'll update my review with it.

I bought this sharpener because of it's ability to sharpen both a regular pencil and a fat pencil. Unfortunately, it doesn't sharpen them well. Also, if you're considering putting it in your child's pencil case, you will more than likely end up with pencil shavings everywhere since the little cup that holds them does not snap into place. It may not be expensive, but it still isn't worth the money.

My daughter has received several cute pencils for recent gifts and we realized we don't have a pencil sharpener around the house. This was just what I was looking for - cheap and effective. It sharpens the pencil to a clean point and keeps the shavings within the component.

The pencil sharpener is easy to use, I have hand instability, lack of strength and can still sharpen pencils. The 2 different size holes allows for my sisters to sharpen larger and small pencils both. The mess is contained, not dropping shaving all over the place. The pencil sharpener also fits easily in a pencil box or other smaller places. Would recommend buying this product, and would buy it again.

These sharpeners are great. I love that the shavings stay inside and don't leave a mess in the kids backpack! I made sure to buy 2 to last through the school year!

This is a great little sharpener. I've not had any issues with it popping open unexpectedly which has been an issue with other sharpeners I have used in the past (I carry it in my purse with my portable adult colouring supplies). It sharpens all brands of pencils very well, even my Staedtler Ergosofts that are triangular in shape...I've had issues finding a small sharpener that they will actually fit into that also sharpens them to a suitable point, and this definitely fits the bill. The only thing that would have made this better would have been the opportunity to choose the colour I received, but that is a very minor thing that doesn't affect the function of the sharpener at all, so I feel it would be silly to deduct a star from my rating for that reason. If you're searching for a small, portable sharpener that won't pop open in your bag and works incredibly well with a variety of pencil shapes and sizes, I would recommend the purchase of this wholeheartedly.
