Works great on all large yard tree, limb, bush cutting needs
Really love this small 12 inch chainsaw. It works well with the dewalt 20V batteries I already own for other tools and makes short work of all my yard bushes and tree limbs (up to about 10 inches). Tried an 8 inch saw originally but found it just a bit too short for my needs. Plenty of power, smooth cuts, light to handle and no bar chain oil leakage after 2 months of use.

Great value for the money! Enough size for most homeowners.
Awesome little chain saw. I've cut down over 20 trees with this little guy so far. 6 of those trees were 50+ foot poplar trees. Im using larger size batteries with it (5 version over 2). My buddy brought over his much larger chain saw and was impressed at everything this little machine ate up. I did have some larger size downed trees on my property that I used a bigger saw to tackle (trunks over 15"). Great value for the money. They have seemed to fix the leaking oil issue with this version. Battery life seemed great to me. Even when I used a smaller sized battery in a pinch.

Wonderful saw and plenty of power for my usage needs
First time using it, I was very impressed. The recent upgrades to this model was one reason why I went ahead and bought it. Upgrades include a seal on the oil cap to help prevent leakage, oil cap changes to help prevent dust, etc. from getting into the oil tank, smoother cut so improved battery life and a higher RPM than the previous model. The safety feature is a little harder to engage than I expected so don't be surprised about needing to push harder than you might think to put it into run mode if the safety is on (mine came with it engaged). Other than that, everything was as expected and it was up and running after plugging in a battery and adding oil. Be sure to not let it run out of oil and tighten the chain after using it awhile as new chains will loosen up a bit after some use. Saw is powerful and light weight. Adding that I've cut many 8" to 10" diameter pieces of wood off a black willow tree the last few days and it worked very well.

lightweight and powerful electric saw
This review is for the DEWALT 20V MAX 12 in. Cordless Chainsaw, Bare Tool. I am overall pretty impressed with the saw. It easily cut 4" thick walnut logs/limbs and 8" diameter poplar. The saw seems well constructed and feels like a traditional saw except it is about 1/2 the weight of a 14" gas powered saw. Chain adjustment is similar to that on gas saws and the automatic chain oiler works in a similar way. The saw cuts slower than a gas powered saw as the chain spins much slower. Cutting the 8" poplar log took about 20-30 seconds where I'd estimate my gas powered Echo 14" saw would take 15-20 seconds. Cutting up the 4" walnut limbs into chunks was quick enough I really couldn't tell much of a difference between gas and electric. For all cuts I was using a 5AH standard Dewalt battery or a 6HA Waitley battery (Dewault compatible knock-off). After ~15 minutes of active cut time, I still had 3 bars of battery left. There were some reports of the older version of this saw leaking chain oil when it sat. After doing some test cuts, I left the saw on a paper towel and there was only 1 drop of oil which I think came from the chain. I had no further leaks after 48 hours of sitting. Overall, I'm pleased with the saw. My wife likes it because it doesn't require pull starting so she can pull it out and use it on downed limbs or trimming quickly. I also like the light weight which makes using it to trim limbs much less effort. I'm deducting a star purely because it is slower than a gas saw.

Little beast
Goes threw 8" logs like butter. Great for limbing.

Don't wait, buy it.
Man, I love this thing. Amazing for quickly bucking up smaller diameter branches or logs rather than hauling out the big powerful gas chainsaw. The electric saw is so much more practical for smaller wood.

Quality tool
This is a quality tool. I've electric chainsaws from other manufactures but they don't measure up to the quality of Dewalt. I purchased the Dewalt because it was compatible with the 20 volt batteries I already have.

Forester Tested: A Little Underwhelmed
I am a career forester with over 20 years of experience. I purchased this saw as something that could be stored in my truck to quickly clear small fallen trees and brush accross forest roads. Sounded like a great idea at the time, but I find myself being a little underwhelmed. I like the campatability with my other dewalt tools/batteries over other options and I run it with a 6amp battery, but this thing bogs down or just cuts out constantly, even with a brand new chain. I'm going to do more testing, but at this point, I kind of view this as a toy than an actual tool. I say that as a devout Dewalt fan. as others have noted, also leaks bar and chain oil. Which all saws will do. This one more than all others I've owned. Pro's: ease of use, built from quality materials, light weight. Con's: lack of power and leaks oil. Lack of power being everything with this saw. Update: I moved this from 2 stars to 1 star after further testing and use. This thing is hot garbage. Just pass on it. I find myself using a cheap chinese made pruning saw far more than this underperforming "quality" brand product. Very dissapointed as a devout Dewalt Fan (heck, the ear muffs I use with my gas chainsaw are even bluetooth Dewalt earmuffs (which I do reccommend)). It's underpowered, leaks far too much bar and chain oil when stored. Just get a gas saw or a cheap chinese electric saw if you are going to use it as I do.

Nice little chainsaw
works great. Lightweight, compared to gas chainsaw, but rips through 10" dia logs with ease. Be sure to screw cap for bar oil properly - I didn't and dripped oil - soon fixed. I used 5Ah battery and was good for three 60' poplars. Very happy with this purchase.

It's an extremely good reasonably price battery powered chainsaw. Highly recommend it!
This is an actual functioning chainsaw! It's not as powerful as a gas saw, but, it does the job at a more relaxed pace. The machine has surprising heft to it making cuts easier. The oiler works great and unlike the other chainsaw I had purchased the chain stayed put and it did not sag. Love it!
