Strong suction.
Works great. Easy to use. I bought one last year for my three-tier fountain. Last week I moved it over to my hard side above ground pool deck. Just tossed the outgoing over the side and the water inflow into the water. I am using it for pool bottom floor vacuuming (just connect my vacuum hose). I can spot vacuum the pool bottom or leave the hose on the pool floor. Then just vacuum to waste. (I replaced my pool hosing with pvc piping - and that suction is too strong for a liner to connect a vacuum). In just a few days, with my main pool filter system and the sand filter system, my pool is clean. I need to buy another one for my fountain.

Nice, easy to use sand filter system
Put this on my old pool, my first sand filter and I am loving it! Easy to set up, timer works well and it is keeping my pool clear.

Replace those filter pumps
Perfect for replacing filter pump on above ground 18ft or larger pool. No issues for the past 2 summers and only run pump for 12 hours or less a day. Saves $$ on chemicals and eliminates buying filters in bulk. Maintenance free all summer. Will pay for itself the first year.

Used for a 8” stock tank pool and it works great once it is up and running.
This pump was purchased to build an 8-foot stock tank pool. It arrived well boxed with no damage. Taking the items out of the box and getting everything hooked up was fairly straight forward. Everything you need to get a stock tank pool up and running is in the box except the kit does not come with an inlet fitting. So make sure you get a inlet valve when you are setting everything up. Once I got the system hooked up, I ran into the second problem. The website and instruction manual indicates that this filter takes 50 lbs of sand. Which would be a single bag. I had to use one bag and a fraction of another to get sand in the proper fill range. Solving this issue was simple, so I kept cruising along until I hit the third issue. The third issue is I have weather proof in use outlet boxes for all of my outdoor outlets. If you do not know that these are, these are outlet covers that have a box that opens, you can plug in your electrical item, and there is a slot for the cord to come out while you close the box, so everything is protected from the elements. The plug that is on the pump is a plug with a built in GFI, which being around water is a great thing. The issue arises when you go to plug this plug into the outlet, and the plug is longer than a standard outlet box, by about 1/8 of an inch. This required me to dremel out the box just enough to get it close to fitting, and then hand filing the rest while checking frequently to make sure the back end of the outlet fit perfectly through the side of the box and there was not a gap for bugs. Or that you have dealt with all of the minor foibles of getting everything set up, let’s talk about the pump and filter. The pump is strong, moves bunches of water, and is surprisingly quiet. The instructions are clear and simple to follow for the initial backwash and how to set it to start filtering. The timer function is a little clunky, but it comes with a timer and it functions well once it is set, and since this is a set it and forget it type of function, it works as intended. In summary, this is a great pump once you get everything going and it appears that it will work well. My wife is happy with how quiet it is, and in a 8-foot stock tank it generates enough of a current that if you are floating, it will slowly spin you in a circle. I would recommend this system to a friend. I took off one star for not including an entire system in the box (i.e. inlet fitting), having to get 2 bags of sand, and the plug issue.

Clears that pool right on up!
Great upgrade from the little pump that comes with the pool. Makes the ease of clean up so much better. Simple to set up, no additional parts needed. Small upgrade but the power compared to the stock version is incredible!

BEWARE : WORKED GREAT FOR 6 MONTHS THAN DIED! INTEX IS UNREACHABLE BY PHONE FOR THEIR WARRANTY.
We bought this in Jan 2020 when the original intex pump died after 3 months and we installed it and it worked great till June 16 2020 when it just turned off for no reason while my husband was in the pool. We checked everything to see if it was an electric issue caused by something. We couldn't find anything that caused it to turn off. [So we called Assurian as we had bought a 3 yr protection plan for it. They gave us the run around first two times I called and then the 3rd time after asking them to put me through to a manager they put someone on (that did not sound like a manager). She just gave same talking points over and over. I felt sorry for her. But she finally told me the truth unlike the first two girls I spoke with. She said it's a manufacturer warranty for first year they won't do anything first year. So I forced her to stay on phone with me to call Intex as their policy states they will and we waited on the Intex line for over 45 minutes on hold. She finally told me she would refund the $30 plan so I said okay, and let her get off the phone and I remained on the Intex line]. When the Intex hold finally ended, the phone started ringing and ringing with no one picking up. After about 5-10 min of letting it ring I just hung up and looked at the reviews for the Intex pump. I found out people had issue of not getting through by phone or by email as well. I don't know what we are going to do at this point. If we can't get through to Intex and Intex is the only company that makes pumps for their pool, and we can't get the electrical issue fixed on the pump; our pool is going to go green. I don't think I want to sink any more money into Intex.... We are probably around $900+ at this point between 14'x 42" pool and chemicals and replacing the pump and emptying and refilling the pool etc. with no end in sight. If Intex doesn't make quality products that last, I would say THINK TWICE, and know what you're getting yourself into. MANAGE EXPECTIONS... You're pool may not last for a year or more... Is it really worth it? When the pump dies Intex (If they ever pick up the phone lol) would just tell you to ship it to them. Shipping costs more than the pump so what good is that?

I will start with saying I wish I would of bought the 14” over the 12”. I followed the instructions on pool size. We have a 18’ pool. This sand filter works great tho! We had a pump that was on the side of the pool, we found instructions online, so it is compatible if you have the big hole from an attached pump on the side! - maybe that could be included on here for future purchasers! Relevantly low noise level Watched a lot of YouTube videos for faster and quicker instructions - if you have that type of “husband” in your life. Easy to put together Our pool has never looked cleaner! We paired this with a robot vacuum. We are glad we spent the extra money! Lastly! No more filter purchases! This pump will pay for itself! We spend $100’s every summer just On disposable filters!

Very effective in filtering water for a crystal clear pool, as I was using a canister filter prior to switching. Installation is easy but you need to pay attention to the instructions and watch videos online prior to assembly. As a system the filter is great but I think Intex should also include mounting adapters which you need to buy separately. I don't mind paying for the cost of the adapters but if they were included the hunt for them would've have been a lot easier as they are not always readily available. The Intex Adapter B are something you'll need if you're fitting this to a BestWay pool which uses a 1-1/4" opening. And the hose sizing of the intext system is not 1.5", it's 2" if you base it from what the hardware stores sell. Be aware of sizing as it can be confusing and misleading. Programing and functionality of the pump to turn on and the system is a bit confusing as I was in a locked out mode and could turn on system. Had to resort to online help forums to trouble shoot why my filter system wasn't running. Packaging could have been better as parts in my system were damaged in shipping. The star hub center piece is considered fragile and could be better insulated for shipping. I had to resort to repairing the hub and pipe myself with marine grade epoxy. Once you get the system up and running, it works good and effective to filter your pool so it's crystal clear. The noise isn't too loud so running it at night outside won't disturb your neighbors.

12x24 pool. Even with a smaller pool I'd consider this the smallest pump. Skip any larger than stock cartridge filter pump as they are dirty within a week. to properly use a pool skimmer I'd consider this the smallest pump vs the 1500 version. Skimmer works amazing. Backwash sand filter when the skimmer visually isnt working quite right Night a day difference in the pool this year vs last year with stock pump

Using recycled glass filter media as opposed to regular sand in the filter, so far so good! Not many people seem to be using it so I wanted to open with that! The timer function is quite basic, would have preferred to be able to use a smart plug to control it but this seems impossible as when the pump receives power, it goes into standby mode - you have to physically press a button on the pump to start it. No big deal I suppose. Annoyingly, the pump leans forward a bit on operation due to the water pressure since it is not joined to the provided base, it just sits on it. This seems an odd design, they tell you to buy your own screws but it would have been easy for them to provide what's needed. Otherwise it seems well built, no leaks to speak of so far. I cut the 1.25 inch pool inlet to accomodate the new 1.5 inch hoses and ordered some additional parts from the Intex website in advance. Glad I picked it up in May when prices were waaaay lower than they were in June/July. Will update at the end of the summer.
