Astro Tool 78218 Extra-Long Flex Head Ratchet Wrench for 1/2" Nano Sockets

The Astro Tools 783105 10.5" Long Flex Head Nano Socket Ratchet Wrench has quickly become one of my most-used tools. The combination of the extra-long handle and flex head design makes it incredibly effective when working in tight engine compartments, under dashboards, and other hard-to-reach areas. The nano socket compatibility keeps the profile extremely compact, allowing access to fasteners that would be difficult or impossible to reach with a standard ratchet and socket setup. The flex head moves smoothly and holds its position well, making it easy to find the perfect angle for the job. Build quality is outstanding. Bought to use with my vim 11mm dual drive sockets I have in my mini cornwell kit. Works absolutely perfect. As simple to install the socket as a square drive and retains the sockets well. Ratchet is smooth and puts down some decent torque. Feels tough. The slim profile size of this ratchet is incredible. One of those things you didnt know you were missing til you have it. The chrome finish is nice and will only look cooler as it wears in. The attached image is my matco 1/4" ratchet with a shallow 13mm socket next to the astro with a vim/cornwell 1/4"-11mm dual drive 13mm socket. Only recommendation would be to add a sprung detent ratchet for the flex head as this is used mainly in tight access areas. Still my favorite new tool to put to the test.

I already owned the 18.5" extra‑long Astro nano ratchet and was impressed with its quality, so when the 10.5" version went on sale for under $30, I grabbed it. Right out of the box, I ended up modifying it by swapping the stock Astro flex head for a Matco reversible flex head from a dual‑drive repair kit. That upgrade eliminates the need to flip the ratchet to change direction—something I prefer for tight‑space work. That said, the ratchet works perfectly fine in stock form with its 100‑tooth flex‑head mechanism, and most people won’t feel the need to modify anything. At this point, my 17 mm nano wrench setup includes: 10.5" Astro (modified) — 72‑tooth reversible Matco head 10.5" CROM — 120‑tooth 18.5" Astro — 100‑tooth, plus an extra head from the mod Together, these give me a great range of options for working with 17 mm nano sockets, whether I need reach, compact size, or a finer tooth count. Overall, the Astro 10.5" nano ratchet is a high‑quality tool—solid feel, smooth action, and excellent compatibility with nano sockets. Whether you run it stock or customize it like I did, it’s a fantastic addition to any automotive or tight‑space toolkit.

Very nice tool! Robust wrench, smooth action and low profile. Fits the 22mm sized Harbor Freight Quinn brand low profile sockets as well as the Astro brand sockets. Great retention of sockets with its inner spring still retainer. Good length for torque and reach ability for those hard-to-access bolts on the front of modern motors. From shade tree mechanic to professional tech, this is a tool I highly suggest to all tool enthusiasts. This wrench must be flipped to access its loosening and tightening ability's, NOT a dual action paul lever tool, this aids in its narrow profile for tight access.

Great tool, works great with the ½ drive quinn low profile sockets from harbor freight. Don't use it with sockets that have a full ring detent like some of the kobolt sockets, they are a pain to get back out.

Loved picking this up for the living room tool drawer so i can fix stuff without digging in the garage. Used it last weekend to tighten a bolt behind the TV mount where regular wrenches never fit. The flex head and slim body made it easy. Feels sturdy and clicks cleanly.

I use this stubby ratchet with the Astro Tool low profile nano sockets. The combination gives me a pass-through tool that works in tight places. The other end of the ratchet has a magnetic bit holder that is equally useful for me. Thank you Astro Tool for making innovative and highly functional tools!
