Best coffee
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have a Breville Touch and this coffee always comes out perfect. I saw another reviewer saying that is not good on a Breville, but don’t let that stop you. I have been buying this coffee for a long time and it’s the best if you like dark roast coffee and understand that espresso makers need to be dialed in every time you get a bag of fresh beans duh! Espresso 101. The taste is rich and bold. It is always fresh and the price is on point as you get a good amount. I just came back to get another bag and it’s not available so it is a sad day.

Value and flavor
For the price, this is an excellent coffee. I was fearful when I opened the bag that the beans would not be oily and glistening, but they were. I’ve been bounced around by Amazon from Hills Brothers to 8 o’clock coffee all dark roast which I prefer and I decided to try this product and for the money it’s a **** good Coffee I would highly recommend this to anybody. But now it’s unavailable from Amazon. This is BS. This was the best dark roast for the price hands done. Now I have been through 4 other dark roast coffees that do not compare. I’m buying another Amazon brand dark roast it’s good but it’s more money per oz. I hate to see this one not being replaced.

Good if used to bolst/bolster flavor . . .
Not too good for a stand alone cup of coffee on it's own. Tends to get bitter and overpowering. Especially if the brewed coffee sits around for a while. But as an addition in small amounts to an already good cup can make that cup excellent. About a heaping tablespoon of beans to 4 cups coffee, more or less to suit, can do wonders for that good average cup. Try it.

tastes great and it isn't expensive
i am very fussy about my coffee. I bought an Esprose machine. I purchesed the coffee as a lark, expecting it to be poor at best. It is very good! And priced to save me money. Recommend it highly

What you get out of it depends on how you brew it
I ordered AmazonFresh Dark Roast Whole Bean and used it in my, admittedly decrepit, automatic drip... and thought it was one of the more lackluster coffees I'd ever had. I felt like there was nothing to distinguish it. I brewed it in my moka pot - and got a whole different animal. Dark, rich, with cedar-y notes. It really does lend itself to brewing in a moka pot, because there is no trace of bitterness in it and the moka pot can sometimes enhance those darker flavors. If you brew this in an espresso machine or a moka pot, I don't think you will be disappointed especially given the budget price. Other brewing methods, you may not get the most out of it. I realize this is a blend and that the coffees used may vary week to week or more frequently, but it would be nice if there was some way to put the countries of origin on it and be able to update that list on the fly for every batch. I realize that this is an idle pipe dream for a $0.50 per ounce coffee, but one can ask. ;)

Amazon Fresh shouldn't have changed the beans/roaster
We drink a lot of coffee. When I first found Amazon Fresh Bold Dark Roast it was like stumbling upon an awesome secret. The price was great. The coffee was perfect for us. If I remember correctly it was roasted in Canada. Over the past couple purchases (we buy 4# at a time) we noticed that the beans were visually different, the coffee tastes different, and the acidity is higher. That is a problem for us. Whatever Amazon has done is not worth it to us. Sadly, we will be looking for a coffee more suitable for us once again. The original Amazon Dark Roast we were buying was 6 stars for us. This is unfortunately a mere 3 star coffee.

Surprise Surprize - or not, Amazon coffee is very good. 😊
I was prepared to not like Amazon coffee beans. I've been a fan of Brooklyn coffee company, which is excellent. I've tried others just to shore up my decisions about coffee beans. Late one night, enjoying our final coffee and browsing Amazon, who reminded me to reorder coffee beans I came across the Amazon brand and in a moment of weakness ordered "go for the bold "dark roast 2 pounds Amazon Fresh coffee beans. They arrived and with trepidation about my late night purchase, I did not open and grind them immediately I waited 48 hours). Imagine my surprise when I grinder some beans, put coffee into my stainless steel Bodum French press,Poured hot water from the Frizzlife water filter/heater, let it sit for four or five minutes and then poured it into my Portmerion 7 ounce cup. There was the crema, sitting nicely on top. At the first sip, I was converted. Amazon, which is truly named, has never treated me badly since I joined in 2003, in Ireland. this coffee tops it all. Buy it, it is neither sharp, nor flat. There are no fancy words to needed describe it, as the habit, transferred from describing wines. Why must we add such verbal modifiers as chocolatey or peppery or strawberryee ( you know the drill). It is a good cup of coffee and provides the best way to wake up in the morning to drink or as a last cup at midnight. It is a good sound, easy to drink coffee. Thank you, Amazon, Dr. Lucille.

I'm surprised that I actually like it!
I'm certainly not a coffee snob--but I love the idea of finding good deals, or the intersection of "good taste" vs. price. I bought 12 oz of this coffee, and one cup in, I'm impressed. The beans are oily and dark--I love that. I don't know if "oily" is good or bad, but I like that in my whole-bean coffee. The beans smell.... weird. Like steel? Not good. The smell of the beans before grinding smells like machinery... or something. I was worried. Then I ground them and put them in my Aeropress. Some sugar and half/half into the cup--and the coffee actually TASTES.... good! There might be a slight aftertaste of that "machinery" smell/taste.... but I'm not sure I'd notice it if I wasn't looking for it. Summary: Don't smell it, drink it. I don't think you can beat the value.
