Best investment ever
Best investment ever... specially during hurricane season. If you live where electric surges are common and/or hurricane season usually takes power out, these are essential. They are just like a regular light bulb, they charge as long as they are installed. Then, when the power goes out, they stay on. If you turn the switch off, they turn off,... if you turn it on, they turn on. Just like a regular light bulb, just that keeps charge inside when a power surge happens. They last hours. I've had mines on for 8 hours and never lost intensity. May work for longer, just haven't tried it yet. I decided to put one on the hallway, another on the kitchen and one on the living room. That way, main areas keep illuminated when needed. Doesn't have a remote control, but dont really need it either.

Perfect back-up in a power outage
These are so great to have as back-up lighting in a power outage. I highly recommend having a few of these throughout your home. I like that I can adjust the color with a switch! The LED makes them energy efficient which is great.

Exactly as advertised
These are great for permanent switched light fixtures. I do wish they were the smaller A19 size instead of A21, but they still work for my needs. I use these in a bathroom ceiling fixture that is the first in the house to be affected by power issues from the main and the brownouts from road work has ruined several quality led bulbs previously. The built in battery on these seems to have protected them. They are great for power outages as the room they're in has no windows. I only have 2 minor complaints. I am not a fan of the looks and light output only coming from the top, which is more noticeable in the larger A21 size. Also, the lights stay on for a moment after the switch is turned off, seemingly sensing if it was the switch or power. When power was out, or the breaker switched off, they do still turn on with the switch, so whatever it uses to sense is working well.

Ingenious. Put a lamp anywhere.Even without an outlet nearby.
This is a great invention. Needed a small lamp in my closet but there wasn't an electric outlet available. Put a lamp in the closet with this bulb in it and problem was solved. Instead if flipping on the lamp switch just flip on the switch on the light bulb itself. Ingenious.

CANNOT use in ceiling light fixtures controlled by wall switch! Use Only With Plug-in Lamps
If you install these bulbs in ceiling light fixtures controlled by a wall switch, when you turn the switch OFF, the lights will automatically come back ON. This means YOU CANNOT EVER switch your ceiling lights OFF. Think bedroom - don't you want to be able to turn your lights off? Think dining room - do you want your lights on all night long? These lights ONLY work with a plug in lamp (table or floor) that is NOT controlled by a wall switch. Not only is this information not disclosed, when asked, the AI gives an absolute LIE about this information. See below. AI gives inaccurate information: "Yes, the GE LED+ Backup Battery Light Bulbs are specifically designed to work in light fixtures with wall switches and E26 medium base sockets. When the power goes out, these bulbs automatically detect whether the fixture switch is on or off. If the switch is on when power is lost, the bulb stays lit on battery power. If the switch is off during an outage, simply flip the switch on and the bulb will illuminate using its built-in battery. Customers note they work perfectly in ceiling fixtures, multi-bulb chandeliers .... The only consideration is that these A21 bulbs are slightly larger than standard bulbs, so ensure your fixture has adequate clearance." When I asked GAB.AI about this (because I couldn't turn off my own ceiling lights once these bulbs were installed), it correctly responded with an explanation: "The bulbs came back on because they’re designed to detect when AC power is cut off from the socket - they can’t distinguish between the wall switch being turned off versus a genuine power outage. When you turn off the wall switch, you’re cutting power to the socket, which triggers the bulb’s internal sensor to switch to battery mode. Current technology in consumer-grade backup bulbs can’t detect wall switch position. They only monitor whether AC power is present at the socket terminals. This creates the annoying behavior you experienced." And in case you think the USB rechargeable bulbs are the answer, in the fine print they let you know that THOSE bulbs have to be recharged every 50 days or they may fail to work. Some "emergency" lighting if you have to remember to recharge them every 50 days.
