I love it! I am a student and when using the pen and paper it literally loads right into any devise i.e. computer, phone-wherever you want to store your notes. It's easy to save your notes and organize them, print them, easily locate them when needed! It comes with 4 notes pads, but you can purchase a larger binder for very inexpensive. You can even print your own paper! The details on how to print it is on the website. I'm very happy with it!

The setup was a struggle. It took a long while and multiple tries to get it to connect to my phone and the app the first time. Now, it connects perfectly each time. It picks up my writing perfectly, and the transcription is amazing, especially considering I have the worst handwriting of all time. I like that I can share the transcript or the photo of the note. I wish I could share them together to a journal or notes app, though, not separately. I do wish I could use the app as a microphone and use the recording and playback features of the notebook like the echo pen. Those buttons in the notebooks do nothing as of now. When I ordered this starter pack, the pen was missing, but Livescribe's support sent me one quick, so that was awesome. It doesn't seem like the parent company is putting many resources into the LivePen, so I hope it keeps improving, but for now, it does what I need it to, so it was worth the purchase!

I have been eagerly anticipating a new pen from Livescribe as I have a lot of old Livescribe Smart notebooks. I already own three pens, each of which started off well but ended up being disappointing, mainly due to the bad user experience of the Livescribe app (freezes, doesnt sync data and doesnt work 75% of the time) When I saw a new pen from Livescribe, I immediately purchased it, mentally preparing myself to be disappointed. However, this new Livescribe Livepen is working great so far. They have released a new app called Livepen, which has very limited functionality, but at least it connects and transfers the pen data well so far - fingers crossed. Updating June 2025 - the latest updates are really nice, reliable and I have experienced no sync issues

Ok, maybe it was user error but I consider myself to be VERY technology proficient. Have just about every tablet, iPhone, smart speaker, etc. and was excited to try out this product. It did not work properly. The writing that was being transcribed to my electronic device (my iPhone) was non-sensical and was of no use. I wrote an entire page of notes thinking it would start to properly transcribe and it never did transcribe the words properly. I put it down and thought I will try again the next day because frankly I really wanted the product to work. I tried again the next day and the pen was no longer connected to the notepad that came with the pen. I had to reconnect the pen and it would not reconnect. After 10-minutes of trying I gave up and returned the product for a full refund. I decided I will just stick with my iPad note taking or scanning notes from a note pad until the technology improves.

Update -- Dropped a star The application has become very slow as the number of pages has increased. Although I liked the idea of storing images in one location, the app makes it very slow to get to a later page. It loads the entire notebook on every invocation. That means that I have to wait up to five minutes to get to page 125 to load. The app should maintain a local cache somewhere. End of update It works well most of the time and it’s helpful to have my notes on the phone to review later. The text in the notes is detailed enough for the ocr to work properly. The ocr is decent. The pen has s comfortable to use and its ink is string even after 50+ pages of detailed notes. However the refresh is spotty at best. The lag time for the notes to get to the phone from the pen is not a constant. Sometimes I don’t see the notes for days- let alone real time! In many instances I have not seen some notes appear at all but that is rare. I don’t know if this marketed as a drawing tablet bcs it’s not useful as one. It is only black and white - no shades.

Wow. I have been a livescribe user since the first Echo, then LS3, then Echo2, and now live pen. Here's what I've learned: 1. This app for iphone makes it easier than ever to sync. The app will only sync the pen when the app is open and cap is off. The pen holds 25 pages, enough for me every few days. I like this bec I don't use massive gigs and if I did record I would sync right away. 2. Accuracy with AI is pretty darn 95% give or take. Love that I don't have to retype my notes. 3. Wish I could delete pages individually but can't. 4. As an HR professional I take a LOT of notes during investigatory interviews and such. Very helpful tool and the main reason I keep using their products. Its less intrusive than having a laptop between me and the employee. 5. Very nice price point for the bundle. Makes it accessible for students, professionals, and other folks who need to document.

I've been using the Livepen for about nine months. Initially it was magical. It synched effortlessly with my iPhone and it automatically converted my handwriting into typed text. I ran into trouble when the pen's memory was at 80% and the Livepen app began to prompt me to free up memory. I tried many times to do this. Each time the free up memory function seemed to hang and when I closed it nothing seems to have changed. I sent a support request to Livescribe but haven't yet heard from them. An issue with this pen that I only discovered after this issue is that you can't do a hard reset. You can't do much of anything to the pen itself. All of its functionality is limited to the application and it seems like the application itself is buggy. I'm going to hang onto this pen in hopes that support will help out or that they fix this issue with an application update. Final Note: I'm a longtime user of Livescribe pens and this has been my consistent experience with them. When they work, they're fantastic. But at some point, Livescribe changes the application and the pen loses its functionality: Often the pen won't pair or the battery stops charging or as in this case the memory can't be offloaded. I continue to hope that Livescribe or another company can create a pen that is reliable for the long haul because I like the ability to use ink on paper. But I can't recommend this one. I now have a very mediocre ink pen that I could replace with any number of swag pens I get for free. Save your money and apply it towards something like an iPad.

I bought this product yesterday and was extremely exited to get it. Definitely not disappointed. It works well but make sure you get the right app, it’s called LivePen. It does not come charged but it has a charger. It has a 90% accuracy and has a long lasting battery charge. I would definitely recommend this, but just now sometimes it’s a little off and the ink is thicker than on paper. Also sorry in advance the video is a bit blurry.
