We've had a Blendtec blender for many years and these usually last a long time. Have used this new one several times and works well. I prefer the old style of lids, but this works too.

Great replacement jar. Durable and does its job well.

I bought this as a replacement jar because the one that came with the unit was leaking badly after a couple of years use. This jar is superior to the original one in many ways. It has a better gasket on the bottom and the top lip is rounded not sharp. It did come with a very inferior lid, but I had kept my original lid which fit just fine.

My original Blendtec jar started to fail (the blades would not turn smoothly making the motor to work too hard - overheat potentially). Despite using some oil to lubricate the mechanism it didn’t last long; I believe the gasket seals wore out and were leaking water. Bottom line, the new one is an improved design and the best suprise noticeably quieter than the old jar. I don’t know why but it is. Like others suggested - keep your old jar top it is better than the new one - better seal and has the removable feeder top for adding to the blender without removing the primary top. Biggest drawback is the high cost, seems excessive but it is good quality. Happy I got it - the base/motor going strong after several years of use.

I own a Blendtec Blender. I have the Wildside jar with the lid shown in the photo on this page (this has a square opening on top with a clear plastic square removable insert), I also own the standard jar which is shown in this picture and this has a soft lid with a small 1 1/4 inch diameter hole with removable plug. I purchased the Blendtec Blender in 2008. I was unaware that there were ANY other type of lids except for the two lids mentioned above. So, when the description for this was the Soft Lid, I assumed it was the lid from 2008 which is a soft lid with a small 1 1/4 inch hole/with plug. I was unaware of the type of lid that actually came with this jar. Please be aware...the lid with this particular model must be a very, very old. It is thin with only a pinhole opening on top. You must hold it down the entire time and if it is on high, the liquid contents will spill out everywhere. I use my Blendtec Blender mulitple times a day and have done this for 6 years, so I speak from experience. This is not a good lid with this jar. This lid should not even be sold anymore, it is ridiculous.
