Rock-solid smart switch โ easy setup, Matter + energy monitoring
Installed a few of these Tapo smart switches and theyโve been excellent. Setup in the Tapo app was fast, pairing was smooth, and theyโve been rock-solid reliable day to day. The biggest win is Matter support โ it makes integration with Alexa / Google Home / SmartThings straightforward, and it feels more โfuture-proofโ than older Wi-Fi switches. The energy monitoring is also a great feature and gives useful insight into what different lights and loads are actually using. The switch itself looks clean, feels well-built, and the button press is firm (not cheap or mushy). Overall itโs a great value compared to other smart switches with similar features.

Great Smart Switch
These smart switches work great! Iโve been using them to remotely use lights/give them schedules and I have no complaints whatsoever. Theyโre better than the old Leviton Smart Switched Iโve had in the fact that they connect to your phone without hubs unlike the Leviton switches which require a hub. Theyโre quick and easy to set up, look pretty nice, and are pretty fast wirelessly. Overall, these guys are a 10/10 switch and I recommend them.

Great solution for 3-way and 4-way smart switch setups
TP-Link Tapo Smart Switch โ Single-Pole / 3-Way / 4-Way, Matter Compatible This is another useful piece in the TP-Link Tapo smart home ecosystem. In my house I run more than 50 Tapo devices including dimmers, switches, and smart outlets. These switches are especially helpful when dealing with multi-location lighting setups such as 3-way or 4-way circuits where the same light is controlled from multiple switches. Tapo does a good job covering these situations so you can still integrate those circuits into the rest of the smart lighting system without complicated workarounds. Installation was straightforward and once added to the Tapo app the switch worked just like the rest of the system. It integrates easily with routines and voice control through Alexa, and the Matter support allows for fast local response even if the internet connection drops. Like the other Tapo switches in my house, it has been stable and reliable over the past year of use. If youโre building out a larger smart lighting system and run into a multi-switch circuit, itโs nice to know Tapo has an option that fits right into the ecosystem.

Would by again, wish they used Thread over Matter instead of WiFi
I like my Lutron Diva and Caseta dimmers and switches more, because they use the Lutron hub and donโt clutter my wifi, but these have been good. Easy install, if you have done switch installs before. I liked that I could keep the original switch on the other side of the 3-way, so that you donโt have to buy 2. They respond quickly to manual and voice commands via the Tapo app or HomeKit/Siri and Home Assistant. They are less expensive than Lutron, look almost as good and work well. Also, the energy monitoring is useful. Lose one star because it uses wifi, vs Thread.

Easy way to make your lights smart!
I installed this Tapo Smart WiโFi Light Switch to replace a traditional switch in my home, and Iโm very pleased with how well it works. It lets me control my lights via the Tapo app, voice commands (Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant), and schedules โ which is super convenient for daily routines and handsโfree use. I also like that it supports 3โway/4โway setups so you can control the same lights from multiple locations โ perfect for hallways and staircases. The energy monitoring feature is a nice bonus too, helping me keep track of usage. Quick setup with the app was straightforward, though having a neutral wire in the switch box is required. Overall, this smart switch is a great upgrade from standard light switches โ reliable and packed with useful features for a smart home. Highly recommend it!

Easy installation and works perfectly
I installed 3 Tapo smart switches. Me: DIY person. Easy to install and super easy to connect and set up on Tapo App. [Appreciated]. I replaced two modern lighting electronic timer switches that have tiny screens and are not easy to program. The Tapo smart switch has an easy menu to program off and on times making it a breeze to control porch and patio lighting. Installation tips: 1. if the switch you are replacing is a 3 way or 4 way unit, the Tapo works perfectly but needs to be installed in the primary switch junction box. You can easily determine this by testing for current in the "line" wire when the switch is turned off. It will retain current when the switch is on or off. If the current stops when the switch is off, then that is not the primary switch in your 3 or 4 way set up. The included instructions explain this as well. Tip 2: verify your existing wire function before removing and installing new Tapo switch. While there are code and industry standards, the previous installer may have deviated. This includes verifying the traveller wires, often one red and one black, but this can vary. Also, the line and load [load goes to light in this case] wires may both be black. A noncontact voltage tester or multimeter can be used to discriminate. Tip 3: take pictures of old switch wiring before removal. This can help if you forget the wire origin. I removed and installed one wire at a time to minimize mix ups. Tip 4: The old wires may have been stripped too long which can expose the conducting copper after installed in the Tapo. This is easily fixed by snipping off any excess copper wire. Tip 5: The Tapo switch includes a single switch plate. If you are installing into a multi- switch junction box, the reused 2 or 3 or 4 switch plate cover will probably not fit totally flush over the top section of the Tapo switch at the screw hole because the switch body plate is a little thicker than a regular switch. I remedied this by shaving off small amount of plastic on the back side of the switch plate cover. ( see picture). This allowed a flat and flush mount onto the wall. I used a box cutter to remove a tiny amount of the plastic. Tip 6: Use of a power screwdriver (not a drill) saves time when removing and installing the two long switch mounting screws. Good luck on your project. Tapo smart switches highly recommended.

Used it for a 4 way connection, put it at the end of the loop so the other lights switches work, no issues

I am a novice in these things and was able to figure this out by using the wiring diagram provided in the box. This switch surely works for a 4-Way setup.
