Works Well
Installs easily and does what it's supposed to do. Not much more I can say. One thing though, the instructions tell you to replace every 6 months and make sure you heed this advice. It seems that the unit maintaining internal pressure lessens as the unit goes beyond that 6 month period and the seals can start to leak. I had this happen to me once but it was my fault as I left the filter in use for a year and then it suddenly lost it's "seal" and water started shooting out of it. I learned my lesson and now replace every 6 months, which you should do anyway to maintain the filtration effectiveness of the unit. I've never had another leak and the filters work well.

We use as a lifetime filter for refrigerators
This is a fantastic water filter. I'm a 35-year master refrigeration and appliance technician. License. Certified by the EPA license 608. I will be selling a lot of these Culligan filters as it does around 2500 gallons. As much as the ice maker filters cost for brand names like Frigidaire Whirlpool etc. The average cost of replacement for one of the name brands is $60 to $80 sometimes even higher. Great deal on this one. The manufacturers average 500 gallons for filter. I sell this is an alternative lifetime filter for the life of your refrigerator. Customers are happy I install it in line behind the refrigerator bypassing the current installed manufacturer unit. Simple process. if you're handy and you're tired of buying filters every 6 months this is your solution. When installing pay attention to which way the arrow points to get your water flow correct. Then just think it's water in - water out when disconnecting the lines to your current refrigerator ice maker. First off turn off your water to the ice maker completely at the wall. Remove the two screws out that mount your water inlet valve in the back. Pull the inlet out with the water lines attached. This is kind of tricky because you really need to know which line is going where. Most refrigerators will have water coming into the inlet then it is distributed to the filter and then back from the filter then it will be directed to the ice maker as well as the door for water. This is very typical. What's your bypassing is the trip from the inlet valve to the filter and back. When it leaves the inlet valve headed to the filter about 3 in after the inlet valve cut it right there you might have to use an adapter to go from 5/16 to 1/4" if you see that 90° elbow that I have on my filter that's the type of compression fitting you need you just slide the line in and it's very easy. I simply use gorilla tape and tape the inline filter to the back of the refrigerator once again make sure your arrow is pointing in the right direction. if you did all this correctly good for you you just installed a lifetime 2500 gallon filter and our saving hundreds per year. My name is Chuck Thompson I run Chuck's Appliance Repair Hot Springs Arkansas. The picture shown is how I have them ready for install before I go to a customer's house. Added line around 10 ft. which can be used in front or behind the filter. Most refrigerators you're going to have a 5/16 line from the inlet valve to the original fridge filter. See second picture to see how big that 5/16 looks. Then the third picture shows you the little fittings needed. These are angles I'm using but you can buy them straight 5/16 by 1/4 compression water connection. I buy them by the hundreds and keep them in all different sizes due to the extreme amount of filters we install. Those compression fittings are very reliable and usually come with a little clip that needs to be inserted as a safety precaution. Your refrigerator ice maker system does not have continual pressure on it. the only thing that has constant pressure is the inlet valve or the water comes to the fridge in the back. When ice is called for it releases and gives a little pressure as well as when people get water through the door. Those are the only times that filter will fill any pressure whatsoever. My point is when using this correctly as I have described you will not have any leaks whatsoever. Highly recommend you allow your current appliance technician to install this as I have described. I do this this way to save my customers a lot of time and a lot of money. if this information helped you and you have a minute toss me some Stars thank you.

decent filter
I've used these filters for my ice maker for quite a few years now. Somewhere during that time, they changed how they connect to your pipes. It used to be installed by a threaded (screw on) connection. Now they have a "Quick Connect" install option. My first install of the Quick Connect version was a disaster, and I ruined the filter before even getting it hooked up. The second installation attempt was successful, however, I did not trust that a non-threaded connection would hold up. Now I'm on my fourth installation of the Quick Connect version. I've never had a leak, and the install time is down to 5 or 10 minutes. I'm really beginning to like these. I use them for ice only, I never take water from my fridge dispenser to prolong the life of this filter. (I have a Culligan undersink filter with a D-20A filter cartridge that I use for my kitchen faucet, which tastes slightly better anyway). The ice is clean tasting and I'm pleased with the results I get with this filter. I change it once a year as suggested. Remember to run the water (or throw out the first 5-10 batches of ice) until the black particles are gone.

Quick and easy filter for my icemaker
As long as you have enough water pressure, this is a quick and easy way to add a filter to an icemaker. Just cut the existing line and insert each side into the ends of the filter, making sure the water is flowing in the proper direction. It will spit out some black carbon stuff at first so if you can let some water flow out into a bucket before connecting the icemaker side, that will eliminate black ice cubes. Or you can just let it make ice cubes and throw away the first few batches. Works great, ice has no weird taste and it's easy to replace this filter once it stops working well. Simple and effective. There is no mounting hardware included, I just used a piece of metal strap to keep it mounted up against the wall behind my fridge but you could just let it sit there and it will be fine. No leaks at all.

1/4 " connectors leek and dark closured fluid oozed out. This was a complete waste of money and not useable. Spend the extra 3 bucks and get a rain fresh filter that actually works.
