Lost the spring to this - where do you get replacements?

The seller of mine was Mix Wholesale. My nozzle broke and I contacted them and they sent me a replacement free of charge. They had great customer service.

my daughter wants to paint deer sculls. would this product be good for that?

I use it for taxidermy. It is the first air brush I have ever used. It works well with good paint. I use lacquer-base paint from Mckinzie Taxidermy and it works well. I was having much difficulty with cheap paint. I am by no means an expert on air brushes, but the advise I received on this forum resolved my issue which was the paint. It has worked fine since.

Can it spray wood stains? Also, can I use my big air compressor provided I can dial down the flow?

This is meant for small projects, model planes and even lady nail polish stuff. The spray pattern is less than 1/2 inch diameter. If the stain is thin enough, I guess you can spray it. But not thick paint. If it is for a wood deck, you will need a week to get the job done! A big compressor at 20-30 PSI will be fine with this brush, but think small, like car model, not real car.

What is the biggest pattern you can get with this AB?

I don't know. This is my first airbrush and I have only used it once. I am a pure amateur.
