Great curling iron
Best curling iron I’ve tried! It curls well and fast. It also has a turbo button for fast heating but be careful it does get really hot. Works so well. Has a stand on it when you want to sit it down so it wont burn anything you put it on. I would recommend and the price is great!

REALLY Great.
This works shockingly well. I had a much more expensive one and a quarter barrel curling iron that I bought five or six years ago and it just wasn’t holding the curls at all. I thought I needed to try a smaller barrel so that when the curls relaxed, it was more of what I was looking for from the one and a quarter inch. I think that one was also supposedly a longer barrel for long hair. Well, this 1 inch long barrel was so much easier to use on my extremely long hair. First of all the clamp held the first little bit of hair at the very ends so well and it didn’t slip out, and the curls it created with absolutely no product stayed so tight all day. And they looked very, very shiny. It really helped that the barrel was truly longer, so I could curl more hair a single time around it all the way up to the roots. I used the turbo option. Meaning you first push the on off button and then you push the turbo button and I think you get the highest heat. I was a little worried because I know there is a top amount of heat that you should ever use on hair and I wasn’t sure if this was higher. But based on how my hair looks and feels having now used it a second time I think the turbo level of heat will be great for regular use. For such a low price compared to other options, I’m really glad I read the reviews here and tried the Conair. I think my only qualm with it might be that the cord seems a little flimsy and that always feels a little worrisome when you’re dealing with something that heats up. But the cord itself and the plug did not heat up at all, just to be clear. It’s just that my other curling iron has a much more substantial cord and plug. I like this so much that I am getting a one and a quarter barrel long version. I will probably still use this one a bit around the face for a tighter curl but overall I think all I needed was a really good 1.25 barrel that will hold the curl, rather than a smaller barrel. Looking forward to trying the Conair 1.25 size when it comes.

Buttons really are inconvenient - but it’s a good iron!
So I am absolutely hopeless with curling my hair. It’s naturally straight and I never learned. I did give this iron a shot based on the promising design, and while my curls didn’t turn out super great (100% technique/user error) they didn’t turn out terrible either! I feel good about getting to practice curling my hair with this iron and the long barrel is really a game changer for longer length hair. And it’s less exhausting than wrapping it around a wand if you let the tool do the work! I will say the buttons are placed inconveniently when it comes to accidentally turning it off while curling, but I feel it’s easy to look past and just means you have to press the button again. That’s the only downside, and I don’t think it’s worth passing up on this affordable, user-friendly hair tool!

This 1/2 in worked on my super baby fine thinner hair!
I am still amazed I bought this for less than $20 and it is exactly what I needed to finally keep some curls or waves in my super baby fine thinner hair that comes just to the top of my shoulders. It heats up fast. I didn't use the turbo setting as I don't need that for my baby fine hair. I didn't use any product for testing this out - just clean blow dried hair. Your hair should be dry! I'd imagine with some product I'd have different results. My hair didn't have any 'crimps' in it - I was afraid of that since I've had clamp curling irons in the past that left a crimp. I left out the last inch or two at the ends of my hair and then wrapped the rest around - don't wrap too tight or it'll be a bit more difficult to release the curl as you won't be able to open the clamp very easily. I didn't burn myself. There is a dial type thing to choose the heat - they do offer a guide. I used about 10 heat setting. One 'negative' is I wish the barrel was a little longer but it still worked fine for my shorter hair. If you have hair that's shoulder length or longer, the barrel may be too short. You can see from one of my photos to show that the tip is about the size or slightly smaller than my thumbnail - and I have small hands. Just to give you an idea of the size of the 1/2 in. I didn't have any trouble with gripping it, though the small size is okay with my small hands. My curls were tight spirals - at first I was a little worried I'd look ridiculous with these tight spiral curls as my hair/face shape/hair length/age isn't right for tight spiral curls. However, I let my hair completely cool and then just used my fingers to loosen up the curls and it looked great. However, I thought, yeah okay, I've had curls look great before and they've fallen out after less than an hour - sometimes less than 15 minutes. But! with the very slim 1/2 in barrel and those tight spiral curls, when my hair did finally 'relax,' I had the cutest waves going on - nice 'deep' waves with some slight relaxed curls that gave my hair fullness--I could have left more curl in it had I stopped messing with it and had I used a bit of spray but I wanted to see what it would do with me just going about my business and every so often running my fingers through my hair. The waves lasted hours and hours. I then brushed out my hair and I still had some very loose more 'beachy' waves going on. I slept on my hair and the next morning I still had just a tiny bit of 'wave' - not anything defined or all over, but my hair was still full and thick looking. I am impressed. This 1/2 in size was just what I needed to lock in that curl or wave. And, again, once it relaxed, it was just how I wanted it. This small size is the secret for my difficult to curl and wave hair. I only left the curling iron in my hair about 12 seconds. I used different thicknesses of hair strands. It's also important to give your hair time to completely cool and 'lock in' the curl - if you have super baby fine hair like I do, the tight spirals will relax so don't worry if you don't like the look of the tight spiral as they will relax. If you do like the tight spirals, maybe try some spray to lock them in. I haven't experimented with it yet but I will. The cord length is enough for me - I didn't even undo the entire cord. I'd consider buying another one in a size or two up for when I just want a slight wave. At this price, why not? VERY happy with my order.

This curling iron is really nice, it heats up quickly and it has a comfortable grip and handle which makes it easy to add curly loose waves. All in all its what you expect from Conair, sturdy, functional and good pricing. The only dislike I have which is why I gave it a 4 star for easy to use is that the iron will only sit flat while on so make sure you have a silicone mat to protect your surface while it is hot. Hopefully Conair will add that little flip metal kick stand that most curling irons have for this purpose. Otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase.

For someone who travels internationally for work, this has been so handy. Love the dual voltage. It heats up fast and makes beautiful curls. Nothing bad to say!

I had originally bought the 1 1/2" wand of the same brand but it didn't work well for my just above the shoulder length hair, it barely made any curls. I exchanged it for this one and it works much better. I'm sure it would work even better on a bit longer hair but this one gives me large curls at the ends. This is my first curling wand and II was looking for something inexpensive since I'm a beginner and wasn't sure if it would work well on my hair. I have fine hair so I don't need a lot of heat and it does the job well, I set it to about medium temperature and hold it for 10 seconds. Good wand for beginners at least.
