It's Lego - How We Used to Know It
I bought this set for my grandchildren on the instigation of my wife - She Who Must Be Obeyed - who decided that it was time for our twin grandchildren, a boy and a girl of 5 3/4 to learn how to make stuff. Naturally when this kind of advice is given by The Boss, one either does it with speed or one learns the error of one's ways. Over the years I have, despite being a bloke of some obstinacy, come to understand when a suggestion becomes an order. Most blokes will understand this. It wasn't hard to persuade me to be honest. I'm an engineer and as a child loved LEGO for it's ability to let me indulge my manufacturing dreams. Mostly not fulfilled but I did learn to love making stuff partially because of these small and deadly to the bare feet, bricks. And despite being an engineer in a high tech world I have a passionate hatred of computers as learning tools. You can tell me until purple in the fact that children need to have them but I would disagree completely. I use computers every day. I can use CAD and I have worked on complete control systems. Not once have I ever felt that I missed out as a child by not having a computer which, to be fair were not around. I learned the basics which is far more important and things like LEGO and Meccano are far more important tools in stimulating small brains than intelligence sucking computer programs. I'm ranting, I know, but to my mind as a fairly successful engineer I really do see that more practical and hands on toys help more. Anyway, I bought this set because it is a general set of all purpose bricks. This means they tend to be put together and taken apart to make other things rather than the more complex and individual sets where there is a temptation to make the main item and then never break it down again. I also - along with my wife - noticed that our grandchildren had reached a tipping point. Suddenly they are obsessed with colouring and drawing along with making things. It's an almost overnight transformation and because of that we figured that LEGO would now be the ideal next step. And this is the case. The Bubs got this last week and since then they have taken small steps needing a bit of encouragement where they basically commissioned their dad to make stuff to taking over the manufacturing duties completely. This process took a few hours and away they have gone. They have used this every day and I can see the spark of creativity building. On line of course as the virus prevents direct contact. Of course LEGO is expensive and this set is simply a start. What it lacks which, will add another fifteen quid are a couple of base plates upon which the small people in your life can build their creations. If you think your kids are ready to start building then this is a great set to start with. There are plenty of parts many of which are small and fiddly. I don't mind that because it forces children into using their fingers more and helps dexterity. Overall and expensive but of course brilliant set.

Good Starter Box or Top Up Box.
I have just got into lego, i watched a video on Youtube recomending Starter Kits, for getting into the hobby. And this was one if two kits that were recomended. On opening the box, there are about 10 bags inside with mixed bricks, some larger bags have smaller bags inside, so in reality there could be 13 or 14 bags. The bags are mixed pieces, of different shapes and sizes, and a great variety of colours. The box also comes with a Lego Suggestion booklet. Ie a booklet that has suggestions for ideas you can build with the pieces in that box. So all in all a good STARTER box or a TOP UP box.

Great, huge selection of classic Lego!!
Huge box of Lego for the money! I didn’t quite realise how much we were getting but was very pleasantly surprised! Loads of colours and a huge variety of pieces as well as a few build suggestions so really can’t complain!

Daughers love it
My 7-year-old always loved Lego Friends, loves the TV shows and all the kit. However, I felt that her creativity wasn't really being encouraged by the "follow the instructions" type of sets and ordered this as an addition. She now creates all sorts of cars, houses, caravans, airplanes, etc. for her Lego Friends using her imagination and absolutely loves playing with Legos.

Shop around
Just seen this for sale in Asda for £20! Reduced from £25 so gutted I paid £45. Don't buy this if you want lots of big bricks to make large buildings like my son did as there's so many tiny pieces such as eyes that make up the 1500 pieces. On the plus side there are some nice little figure kits in there and lots of bright colours.

Hours of fun!
Amazing. Lego is the all original time passer and this kept us and our 2 toddlers heavily occupied whilst in isolation from having Covid! The best this is there are links to youtube for extra things to make.

Brought this for my nephew. They are the same as I use to play when I was small. Keep me busy for hours while I played with him. On the delivery front, amazing speed that too at the time when the world is in a lockdown.
