PeelAway 7 Paint Remover - 750g

A great product. Easy to apply & remove once it has done its stuff. You do have to be patient with it as temperature can have effect on the time it takes to set off. Overall though, a very good product that did the job.

Great product with a great result. I mistakenly asked our decorator to paint an oak cornice, forgetting that a few metres of it had to be left as bare oak. I had already resigned myself to having to source more of the same cornice when I gave this a go. Works a treat. Application is easy (albeit messy - think cream cheese consistency), cover, then sit tight. After 6 hours the paint just wiped away basically. A got the rest of the bits out of the grain with an old toothbrush and water. The product smells quite nice (sad I know), a bit like a body cream. lol. highly recommend this though it is quite pricey but way more pleasant than aggressive strippers or heat guns.

I purchased this to strip white gloss paint off a cast iron Victorian fireplace. I found that it doesn't really peel away in the manner suggested, but it is certainly much easier to use than Nitromose or similar. I left some of it on for about 12hrs and some on for nearly 48hrs and there wasn't much difference in the amount of paint that came off. A lot of the parts of my fireplace are very intricate and it takes time to scrape the paint away - but it is the same time as I would have spent with any other method. What I did find is that if you squish it around a bit whilst the 'blanket' is still on, it seems to get into all the nooks and crannies which is a little bit of a challenge with the plastic application item supplied. Don't underestimate how much is needed, I under-ordered and will be getting some more. All in all, a good product, maybe not peeling away in the manner suggested, but it is so much better than Nitromorse. **Update - I ordered some more to do a second cast iron fireplace covered in a number of coats of gloss paint. I haven't much different to say from my first review, but what I have found is the company no longer supplies an applicator and after trying to use some of my own utensils, I have found it easier to use a small paint brush to apply this product. Due to the small intricate areas of the fireplace (same as the first one), it has been so much easier to squish the product around and into crevices with the brush. See before and after pics.

Smell ok, but didn’t work like should

Complete and utter waste of money. Didn’t even strip one coat of paint. Left the stripper on for over 8 hours and didn’t budge one coat of basic emulsion from a door!! I would not recommend, waste of money

I carve and restore village signs that are painted and this stuff is brilliant at getting into those 'hard to strip places' revealing the detail. I've used it on a number of these oak signs and it doesn't damage the wood. It lifts multiple layers of paint in one go. No it doesn't all stick to the cover but the remains come away easily and can be washed off and scrubbed with a tooth brush on the most delicate parts. It's not cheap but I've learnt that you pay for quality. I would recommend it for any 'relief' carved wooden work.

This didnt work for me as expected on Brickwork. I applied with a depth of at least a couple of mm of the paste on an outside sheds brickwork that looked like somebody had previously wiped clean their paint brushes on. The area i managed to cover with this smal pot of 750g was about 3 feet bt 2 feet. I found that after applying the paste the over blanket thats provided to cover the paste would not stick and hold as well as i thought it should. I left for 72 hours and peeled off the blanket and found almost none of the paste had held to it so then had to scrape off with a metal scraper followed up with an electric drill with an attached stripping disc to remove as much of the remainder of the paste as possible and then using a stiff brush and hot water. A really messy job and only a small amount of the paint has actually been removed so an almost total waste of money in my experience and i cannot recommend this .
